Ascents of L'Ecaille du Dragon

Great climb. Glad I got it clean.

The burliness of pulling up and around onto the flake is not my style of climbing. It makes this seem harder than 5.8 for me.

Always a tough, burly, lead. Wish I'd brought my #4 for after mounting the flake.

C4 #2, #3x2, #4. Then something smaller for near the end -- maybe pink or red tri-cam.

The first section, in the scale itself, is superb. Good idea to bring big cams (2-3 x #3 C4).

Beautiful climb, flake easily protected with mid to large cams. Fluid all the way through.

Sent it this time! A beautiful climb.The lower flake is a really satisfying series of stemming moves followed by an undercling, smearing traverse and a burly pull up onto the top of the flake. The second half moves up a slab - not hard, but with a nice flow to it.

I came SO CLOSE to sending this! And then a foot popped. Burly, bold climbing along the short traverse: fun stemming lower down. And a spectacular feature to be climbing on.

Some quite burly moves on the lay-back around the edge of the scale, but everything was there, and generally what needed to be done was obvious. Fun, but obvious. Still, a hard lead for a 5.8.
