This route is named in honor of Brian Teal, a prolific climber of his day in Colorado and Alaska. His ashes were spread from the top of the route on the first ascent, fulfilling his wish to be scattered somewhere warm and beautiful. The line was originally climbed in its entirety on trad gear, using the overhanging hand jam fist jam variation, and dubbed "BT Tradition".
