Ascents in Tryfan

lovely mountain route. led all pitches, and did the yellow slab (harder HS 4b variation)

We climbed it in 3. Each led 2 pitches, I led 1 & 6. In p1 the climb gets a bit spicy when climbing the crack, half way aprox, no good feet at all. The stance to belay after p6 is not very roomy and can get a bit too crammed if climbed in 3 as we did, doable though.

Did it on changing weather and with trainers. Led the grove on pissing down rain... Quite tricky when you can't smear. Fully Welsh/British climbing experience my partners said.

Continued on to Bristly Ridge via Dexter Gully.

We were planning to climb something on the East face but it was raining pretty badly so we opted for an easy scramble off the Heather Terrace. Descended westward from the summit back to the A5. The weather improved in the afternoon so we managed to get some trad cragging in near the campsite!

Started on this route but finished on the North Gully route.

Finished on this route after starting on the North Buttress route.

We did a route up the south buttress, same grade, similar height, 8 pitches, but not sure if it was this one. Anyway, the whole east face of Tryfan is amazing. It was my first multi pitch trad adventure and me and Ian swapped leads. Topped out around 4 in the arvo and walked down the south ridge and down the valley. It was a big week (month?) of adventure and I was so tired on the drive back to London that I was hallucinating.

A great day out, on my first 'mountain climb' cheers Ryan...gorgeous climb and vew well worth it.
