Ascents in Riverside County as Clean

That was great. Inspiring to climb on this piece of history (FA in 1952 by Robbins/Wilson, and the first 5.9 in the country!).

P1: Engaging boulder start with almost no protection, crux just below the elephant ear (great feature). I found the start crux to be not the first few moves, but instead reaching the crack by establishing on the slab properly.

P2: 20m of continuous laybacking, initially with some good mini-ledges for rest, then nothing on the last ~12m. Also jammable if you like offwidths. I laybacked (guns > technique I guess)

P3: Interesting mix of grovel, chimney and unprotected slab moves. Rap anchor or continue to the top. Moving onto the slab after chimneying is spicy on lead!

Came into this route via Coffin Nail. Pulling the Horn was great, some crazy exposure there.

5.8 on Mountain Proj, which is surely more accurate. Great climbing on the second pitch. New BD gloves came in handy.

Set it up from above, as bolts are limited. Be ready for a lot of smearing and small edges. Follow the rope line straight to the top, and head for the apex of the roof for more of a challenge. Just an all-out fun climb.

Fun. Just doing a bit of mileage. Had to simul a tad to do in a 70m pitch.

Was able to do it on TR clean. Tricky foot smears and crimping on the left groove. Arete useful at the bottom.

Bouldery start and a few tricky sections with great exposure. Amazing to think this was first freed in 1937 in tennis shoes with a manilla rope! We topped out after sunset and did the friction descent in the dark, fortunately having done it earlier in the day after climbing Fingertrip.

Great exposure and nice belay ledges.

One of my favorite Tahquitz routes. First major multi pitch climb I did. Have repeated two other times.
