Ascents in California as Clean

That was great. Inspiring to climb on this piece of history (FA in 1952 by Robbins/Wilson, and the first 5.9 in the country!).

P1: Engaging boulder start with almost no protection, crux just below the elephant ear (great feature). I found the start crux to be not the first few moves, but instead reaching the crack by establishing on the slab properly.

P2: 20m of continuous laybacking, initially with some good mini-ledges for rest, then nothing on the last ~12m. Also jammable if you like offwidths. I laybacked (guns > technique I guess)

P3: Interesting mix of grovel, chimney and unprotected slab moves. Rap anchor or continue to the top. Moving onto the slab after chimneying is spicy on lead!

Came into this route via Coffin Nail. Pulling the Horn was great, some crazy exposure there.

5.8 on Mountain Proj, which is surely more accurate. Great climbing on the second pitch. New BD gloves came in handy.

A lot of steep walking for an ok route, nice view from the top chill day, worth it if doing other routes in the area, can also watch the pros projecting Dawn Wall from the ledge

A kinda trickier start, but gives way to some wonderfully frictiony stemming. Good gear throughout. Topped out by going through the tiny cave at the top, pretty interesting manoeuvres. Not too hard, lot of fun.

Comments on the mountain project noted a key hold near top broke in June 2015. It's around 5.10b now.

As of nov 2023, all routes on Mozart's Wall are occupy by REI class on sunday mornings except this one.

Lead this, there are bolts. Fun moves.

lap to clean and to see how far off a redpoint feels. it's all there knowing the moves, would just need to not slip or screw up

enjoyable and cruisy on TR; problem section was fine as steep jam without gear/rope in the way or a ledge to think about
