Ascensioni in Point Perpendicular

Managed to have my foot slip on the wet rock and (soft) ground fall at the first bolt… oops. It feels hard until you find the easy beta

Rach thought it was a 17… but she’s short, and it’s wet

The whole route being wet didn’t help, but felt a bit stiff for the grade

Even once you find the secret hold, it’s hard for the grade. Also super short one-move wonder.

The whales put on a show whilst i belayed Coedie up this one. it's all there once you see it but there are a couple tricky points!

Fun and engaging climbing with great gear, lots of variety and good stances

Good climbing on good gear. Placed plenty of nuts down low and saved cams for the top. Think this is my first OS in ages so stoked for that.

When in doubt, stem your way out. Fun little corner thingy, lots of options for feet on both sides with a cool parallel crack at the top section to really get those jams akimbo.

Very cruisy climbing until the last crack, which I found very hard. Had to rest a bunch and it tore my hands up pretty good trying to dyno into the hand jam on the crux. Not so sure i would attempt this again.

Went up pretty well until the final 1/3 of the climb. Found the crux to be the start of the almost offwith. Had to take the first rest here and then another closer to the top due to a very very stuck cam. Would definitely climb again.

Not as scared as I thought I might be on the first climb here. Cool climb.

Rap in climb out, shoot me if you don't like that I may have seen a hold or 2 on the way in and said I onsighted. Very sweaty but not too bad climbing

Took all gear out clean then couldn't manage the last meter to the lip. Jamming game weak. Imitated the whales when I got to the top.

The rope was already rigged so we ran laps on it. Second time around I stuck to the crack and jam-backed the roof section, it felt much better.

Got about 3 meters up before placing my only 4. Decided to bail after seeing the crack only getting wider from there. Bring plenty of big cams for this one if you’re keen.

We started from the chains so maybe its only half the route? Anyways, easy little lead with a small roof. I took the easy option on lead and steered right to the safety of the other side of the boulder for a bit before committing to the left crack and going to the top.

Rachael took the lead (and got the onsight) of this one.

I recall this being one of my earliest trad leads. Nothing to write home about, but still enjoyable

When it says “route finding abilities”, it’s actually saying you should just find another route. Just because it’s the most accessible of the routes, doesn’t mean it’s any good. The Omen also felt easier

Figured I’d have a play. Linked in to the last bolt of the other route. Unless last bolt to the top is notably harder, this goes at closer to 25. The mono pockets are fun though
