Ascensioni in Bivvy Rock

Weird compression crux, quite unique really. Worth doing despite the crumbly rock down low.

Got all the moves today. Bottom is hard and a bit uninspiring but once you get off the chose there are some really cool moves to get over the prow.

Very unique boulder problem on this one. Would be an impressive onsight, but once worked out the sequence flows nicely. No idea about what the grade should be. Technically harder than most 25s but the crux is quite short.

Balancy V4 boulder problem that’s a little tricky but everything else is max grade 18 so this one can’t be more than 24 in my book. #2ndGo

Hard first move, easy climbing for a bit. Crux is hard but super fun. Shit pinch to slopers on the prow, powerful bump, followed by a big reach to a mono which you clip off, left hand to a shit sidepull, big move to lip which is a sloper. Great fun but hard for sure

Rather unique climbing for the area. Crux felt more like Castle Hill than the Port Hills.

Mostly an 18 with a hard boulder problem in the middle. Went okay once I worked out the beta.

Yesterday I thought: 1 more attempt and I will get it clean! I'm glad to say that today after 7 attempts, I got it

Fell on my 2nd and 3rd attempt final move of the crux, would pull back on and then do it which was annoying, weird route as apart from about 3 hard moves it's really easy. Definitely feels like a cheap way to get a 25!!

Took quite a while to figure out the beta to get through the hanging corner, and still felt pretty insecure on the send. Required finger strength, hip flexibility, and some crucial presses. Thanks Tony Burnell for gifting me this line!

V3/V4 boulder problem for my height so max 24 in my book. I can see taller climbers possibly struggling on it more though. Similar to Compression Test but slightly easier. Cruisy #2ndGo.

I think this is Annihilation Mix - 25 from the climb NZ pdf. What a great route! Worked the moves on top rope got it first time on lead! Loved the moves

Check out go. Clipped all bolts except for the third where I chickened out and grabbed it. Crux seems to be going past the second bolt to the lip for me. Which is weird because there is a link up from there graded a 22... I guess I just haven’t worked out the sequence.

First go of day. Second attempt overall. Hung after second bolt and again after the third bolt. But worked out a smooth solution to the upper crux.

Red point! Second go of the day, third overall. So happy with this. Couldn’t have done it without all the awesome beta that Alex worked out including the bomber knee bar for the third clip. Great route with two distinct and very different cruxes.

Finally, my first 25! Super fun boulder problem for first 3 bolts, with a nice kneebar for clipping the 3rd bolt. Then slapping out left and shifting into a cool layback for getting over the bulge and up to the 4th bolt. Rest on ledge and then up along another bulge for next 2 bolts. Got a cool heelhook for reaching a sloper over the top of the bulge and then grab the "chickenhead" to pull over. Easy sailing after that. Nice route, Tony Burnell ♡ Thank you!

Style and difficulty very similar to Arms Control at Sheridans. 24 is spot on.

Fun crux sequence, and a bit thinky up top.
