Ascents in First Year Uni Area having Beta

I think this was it?... Mix of FH's down low and 3 carrots in the top half? If so, pretty cool! Wandering line with some satisfying holds, and a solid spot of crux up high. I liked it.

good nighttime, no headtorch epicing to escape the cliff. expect about none of the carrots to fit a standard boltplate without a fight or at all.

jambs into jugs felt so solid that it seemed a bit soft for the grade, but an awesome crack nonetheless

On a sweltering evening, our campsite's tranquility nudged us towards seeking thrills in the nearby climbs. Eager for adventure, I eyed a less-traveled multi-pitch. The start felt thinner than the ice in my esky, especially above that first bolt. With optimism in my heart and rock shoes on my feet, I ascended, hoping for holds as large as a kangaroo's pouch. Alas, they were scarcer than a drop bear sighting, and the thinness persisted right up to the summit, where I clung to a tree before pondering a chossy mantle worthy of an outback tumbleweed.

The belay spot? Well, let's just say I unintentionally gatecrashed an ant's soiree—those critters were less hospitable than a croc during mating season. As Ben joined this not-so-welcome committee, I launched into the second pitch.

The second bolt is high enough that'd you certainly hit the ledge if you fell here - and I wasn't able to will any decent holds into existence. Not the ideal adventure, I tell you. Choosing the crack to the right, I maneuvered, clipped the second bolt, and returning to the ledge to start the pitch again.

Thankfully, the rock quality improved on the second pitch, providing a reprieve from the earlier moss-fest. All in all the experience left us feeling more rattled than a dingo in a thunderstorm from what was just a modest '19' climb.

Underwhelming. Thought from the photos it was going to be a massive roof but it's actually less than a meter.

The crack is pretty dirty and I hauled on the RH face crimps in the upper section since the crack is some awful shallow-rattly-fingers for me. Much better hand cracks elsewhere in the blueys.

Gear: single rack .5-4. There are ring bolts at the top, glad I didn't have to waste even more time on a tree belay.

Crimpy.

Mantle is ridiculously hard.

Tricky beta to get high feet. Would be more popular if the bolting was modernised with better placements and proper rings or FH's

Stick clip first bolt (Pongoose is magic on these FH's). Hard mantle move then nice climbing on good holds. Used wire on last bolt as bolt plate wouldn't fit. Lichen on the final mantle of pitch 1.

Watch out for all the ants!!! Made into 2 pitches up onto the old lookout

Some fragile rock at bottom Difficult Arete Crux just had one go will come back to it

Deserves a name. Cool Arete! Fully retro bolted now

Great hand jamming, just a shame its over so quick. Rain didnt help with the ascent, but still got it done.

Fun, steep top pitch

Good to get back on some trad after a bit of a hiatus. Need to trust those foot jams again, took a good fall onto a .4 just before the topout.

Good climb, I just clearly haven't been able to lead 5.10 trad

Stick clip first bolt. Start felt committing. Rest of the climb reachy and strong juggery

Would love to know what the crux move is. Eluded me into trying to dyno to a very thin crimp from a very thin crimp.

Pretty rad. Fairly easy as far as grade 19 cracks go.

This was actually pretty nice for a rarely climbed face. Engaging gear in the first half to a very hard (for the grade) crux at the end.

Would be really great on good rock. The anchors are in a stupid spot; best to second it and rap.

Some techy arete climbing and pretty small holds at the grade! Really fun! Just some bad rock down low!

If the rock was good it would be really fun! Loweroff position makes it tricky to rap clean the route, climbed this twice after will got the rope stuck! Didnt see the chalked jugs on the left for the start and fell out of the blank corner before i had any gear in!

Failed halfway up the top crack. No excuses, ran out of steam. Excellent gear. Will be back.

Great moves up a prominent line. Great gear placements. Had a sit in the rope as I tried to figure out my hand jams. Looking forward to clean tick of this.

Good climb. Don't bring "diagonal" bolt plates, don't fit on some carrots. Awkward mantle over the lip on P1. P2 is a big arc, starting 5m left of belay but finishing right.

Memorable for the wrong reasons haha. Would be great if someone took to it with a broom or a pressure washer...! Definitely in a rad spot though.
