Ascents in The Moai having Beta

Climbing could be better but, ya know, it’s the Moai. Arrived at 4:30am, slept a few hours, then hiked out there. I love Lutruwita. Single pitch.

self belaying most of this on a gri gri and with a big bag was not the highlight of the day!

This is pretty great, but a bit reach dependent I think. I dit it all first go, but after watching Emma working out the hard bit, and pre-clipped to her gear, so only really led from the second bolt/crux. Still really awesome, can't wait to lead it properly and get onto pitch 2 to get humbled.

Proud to have dogged this as I was pretty intimidated with the idea. Managed the awkward start, but got shut down on the delicate face. Hard 4th (?) clip! Got the rest without much trouble, but that one move didn't go even on TR. Did it all in 1 pitch.

Sensational, will so happily come back! We scrambled the first 'pitch' before roping up. Glorious to have done this as my first climb in Tassie!

First pitch is horrible, last pitch is somewhat redeemable. Did it in the hiking boots 🤪

Led on pre-placed gears. Couldn’t figure out my beta for the top crux. Took some falls and came down feeling destroyed.

Last route of the day. Gets rather thin up there.

Part of an absolutely hectic 17 hour day to rig a highline between the Moai and the mainland.

An amazing experience to climb this little tower sitting by itself off the main cliff line. The climbing itself was also very good quality.

What a way to round off the Tassie trip, sick adventure down to the Moai and had a stellar time ripping up Ancient Astronaut. Some sussy bolt positions that made it a bit more gripping than it probably needed to be, sick climbing though

Fun with a crux up high

Spooge on the first half made it very difficult. After taking the first fall, it became a boulder problem. Eventually got it, gripped out of my mind holding the undercling with tension on slippery footholds to place a few cams. Finished the route up the easy way skipping last 2 bolts. The route, the climbing and the position were awesome

Amazing experience, if it was just a bit longer! Climbed it in a short window without rain. Beta: take your time and enjoy every move.

Fun escape route, despite the rain! First self belay on the scrambly pitches, then lead on gear for the final one.

The second pitch has a four star hand and finger crack for about 2 metres. I thought I needed two 60m ropes to abseil to the Moai but a single would have been fine since you're going from ledge to ledge.

The first pitch is like an 8 and we didn't bother roping up, but the second pitch was very cool. Was in a bit of a rush and fatigued so I feel like I didn't really get to appreciate the experience.

It was super fun climbing when wet! Loved the crux moves! Unforgettable experience!

A seriously good route with some nice moves. Shame it started raining for Pascoe's pink point!

Such a good adventure. Only started hiking in at 4pm due to flight being cancelled, but luckily was light until 9. Scrambled up the first part to get clear of wave spray. Epic spot for an evening climb.

I’d give this four stars if I could. Starting shortly before sunset at high tide added some spice.

Suprised at the quality of the climb

Just looked at the wall and went up where it looked good. Some fun climbing in the second pitch to get back to the bolt. Topped out just as we needed to pop on the head torches.

Pretty fun climbing, I would say 2 star moves with 3 star exposure and location. Had rain coming down on us and waves crashing into the cave, creating some incredible atmosphere.

So awesome! loved the techy face section and the cool layback moves at the top! glorious climbing in a wild position. First sea stack conquered! such a beautiful place to climb and an amazing little adventure! Rigged a sick highline too! So stoked to finally tick this off!

Holy moly was I gassed. Self belaying with a heavy pack on a gri-gri with a stiff static rope. What a route for an escape, not bac at all. Worth a climb (not like it's optional)

How good! A bit out of my bracket right now, but once I figured out the first two cruxy bits, I sent it from the first ledge all the way up to the top first go. Got to come back.

Woohoo! This was a blast. Really fun second pitch, with wonderful moves and great placements for cams. Loved it!

A relatively accessible adventure! somewhat stout moves for the grade but interspersed with very easy climbing, and well protected.

Self Belay from Fixed Line. Spooky first time using this method plus a heavy pack made this a fun fight out.
