Routes as sport in Buoux

Starts at a raised landing with several other routes, just right of the convex grey wall. A hard start up a pocketed wall.

Classic Buoux pockets. It's not over until it's over.

Starts on the arrête just left of the vegetated gully/corner.

A north facing slabby pocketed wall. Some big reaches. At half height move left.

Another short slabby pocketed wall. This time with a bit more slab.

Pure Buoux pockets into a bald slab finish. Morpho ending.

Pockets into a crack and then wild overhang. This is the LH start (otherwise 6c). Crux is height dependent.

Direct start up the pocketed slab and rib, joining La Fusée at ~15m.

Pocketed slab up the left side of the giant fallen flake.

Follow the pocketed slab up the centre of the giant fallen flake.

Follow the line of bolts on the main face to the right of the giant curving flake.

A steep start through the bulge.

Appears to be a variant (R) start to "Nocturne indien".

Don't use the flake-crack on the right.

Start up the thin corner crack. Joins the RHV at half height. The line leading into the prominent "breasts" feature at the top of the crag (hence the name).

The easier start right of the crack.

One hard move up high.

A triangular bulge leads into a prominent shallow corner crack. A small fig tree has sprouted about 10m up the crack.

Was free soloed by Alain Robert in 1991. The story goes that Alain almost fell on the low percentage mantle moves, one of his feet slipping off. Photographer Laurent Belluard remembers seeing Alain re-establishing himself and finishing the route like nothing had happened. A couple of German climbers who had been trying the route were speechless.

First French 8b and second 8b in the world

A short bouldery route aiming for the prominent scoops.
