Ascents in Uhustein

Actually great climbing, but you can only really enjoy the upper part because the first 10 to 15 meters require a lot of attention and careful treatment of loose structures, especially to the right of the crack. Luckily, the rock on the left is solid and has enough holds to avoid the choss. Backing up the tattered slings is highly recommended, though, especially the one after the first bolt. Nice final section in solid rock, first a steep slab with crimps, then a juggy overhang with a mono pocket before the anchor.

180 degree journey around the rock. Not the easiest way up (that would be the direct start into the chimney), but the easiest path through the wall. Interesting crack/chimney start to a rusty peg (better to back it up), then a tricky step over to the left onto a 45 degree slab that leads up to a big block lying on a ledge and a rusty belay ring (can be backed up using the glue-in of "Klerryfax" on the left. Slightly downward and left on good holds to another little ledge, then further left to one more rusty peg above a little overhang. Delicate moves around the corner into the chimney, which is a real treat. Beautfiul easy chimney work (10 to 15 meters) to the top.

Had a bat fly out of a handhold immediately after I used it.
