Mount Krobo is a big area with up to 90m high walls, lots of sport routes and boulders. Only a small area is used in the moment. Most areas can be quite hot, as there is almost no shade from trees. Also this little bugs can be really nasty. Solid gneiss stone with really tiny hand and footholds sometimes.
access issues
In the moment 10 GHC for access is paid to the local farmer. This fee helps pay for trail access maintenance. Please call him: +223249309243
approach
Approximately 1.5 hour drive from Accra (Accra Mall), but driving time depends a lot on traffic, particularly around Tema. Trotro 3h
where to stay
The next good hotel is maybe Stone Lodge, but camping is much more fun. At Caveman Boulder is a overhanging stone where a tent can be build up.

We have a bolting committee, that should be asked before bolting. It's to ensure that we use equipment for this tropical environment.

Was found and first bolted by Volta Region Craig Pearman in 2010 or 2009. More and more routes have been added by a small group of people like Anthony Rouhana, Guido von Ohlen and Kelly Baker

Buruku Rock is a gneiss pillar.
approach
Park your car south east of the rock, where the small path to the huts starts. From there go up the hill and follow the ride to the rock.

The big advantage of this area is the 30 min distance to Accra, so you could go there for a quick saturday afternoon climb. We tried to explore it more, but it's a dense jungle. Be carefull on the approach, as we found many traps for animals. Nothing is bolted up to now.
approach
Best approach is from the south west from a small village. Don't forget to take a machete.

Nice little park that is perfect to get out of Accra and most climbs are under trees when it becomes hot in Ghana. If you are lucky you can see a lot of birds, butterfly's and other smaller animals.
access issues
There is an entry fee for the park and climbers normally get the bird watchers fee, otherwise you pay per hour. You also pay for the car and a ranger that is coming with you, so it becomes a little bit more expensive.

Shai Hills is round about 1 h from Accra (Accra Mall), depends a lot on the traffic.
where to stay
Stone lodge is the nearest hotel, but camping is much more fun. They also build a really beautiful lodge inside right now.

There is no charge for climbing. Greet the locals and stop by for a drink if you have the time. Take a bit more trash back home than you came with at best.

Dear friends and myself found this place in 2023. A man named Nathan had been there 10 years prior and bolted 5 routes (No saftey guarantee). The clibing comunity has since done a great job in checking out new lines and boulders, buying land for camping and even organizing the west african climbing festival in december.
