Ascents in Waitaha / Canterbury having Beta

This felt extremely hard - although it improved a lot with cleaning. The climbing has really interesting moves in it. Need to go back to get the lead done!

Possibly a touch easy with my beta, but it still took me 3 sessions so 🤷‍♂️. First go of the day, really fun moves.

Cool climb with interesting moves. Not sure what holds are meant to be off limits. Seems a little easier than Reincarnation and Arrested Development

honestly hard for a 16 but i think that might be cuz it was so cold it felt like i had pins and needles in my fingers and it was howlin!!

Sharp holds, only got 1 climb in before the wind really picked up

Very close to the send, but dabbed a foot on the cut loose move so can’t count it. Figured out some tricky beta that should help next session.

First go today, felt easy.

Great Route!

Lead it on sight clean after pulling off a large hold which I was able hold for just enough time for my partner to get out of the way. Close call! I then down climbed and went back up and lead it. Felt a little harder than 18.

This is feeling much closer than I'd expected - but it's still really hard. Need to clean up my moves through the bottom section!

This one is making me work for it - but it's feeling close. And it's really fun!

Hidden gem

Crux feels different traversing in from Bolts. Was planning to get on Trog but it was wet and now I’m inclined to tick this one first.

First time repeating Gorilla in yonks. Such a fun route.

Exited right to get to belay ledge instead of left

Went from the base of the crag and continued up past the ledge clipping the extra bolt to top out proper. Roughly 30m and feels like a 22 doing it this way.

Boulder like start requiring upper body strength. Poor feet but jugs. Afterwards sustained but easier climbing

Quite a nice linkup actually, and harder than Gorilla alone given that it also passes the crux of Rubble. Possibly 28 but easier than She Devil in its current state, so who knows? Either way, good training for Trog!

Looks like couple crimps have broken off just before you get into the crack?

Excellent. 19 sounds about right.

Loses its third star due to the wandery nature of the climbing. A great route nonetheless. Was touch and go in several sections; haven’t tried this hard for a send in a while.
