If you have seen the James Bond movie "For Your Eyes Only" you may remember the stunning scenery in which 007 goes rockclimbing: Tall conglomerate towers with many abandoned or inhabited monasteries on top. Even tiny ledges and caves often hold relics of some hermitages.

The climbing is mostly adventurous; expect longer runouts, widely-spaced ringbolts that are sometimes easy to overlook and sometimes loose round pebbles that make gear placements challenging.

Some routes require a full trad rack, others can be climbed just with quickdraws. Thin slings for tying-off pebbles often come handy.

Most popular routes have two-bolt anchors but you can still find large ringbolt anchors. Learn to distinguish them from smaller intermediate ringbolts. When rappelling from a single ring anchor, make sure to rig the knot in a way that you will pull the side that goes UNDER the ring on retrieval. Otherwise the ring will block the rope like a belay plate.
