Ascents as trad by Scott Godwin having Distinct route

Putting a rope up for Emily and Laura. Nice enough climbing but watch out for the rope chopping flake.

With James. Incredible nut placements on the first pitch. Nearly ran out of draws because I was having so much fun sinking one bomber nut after another. Belayed in the cave then climbed right and up steep juggy wall above, which may have actually been p2 of CS concerto?

My hazy memory told me that this climb was more fun than it really is. Only a couple of nice moves around the little rooflet thing, then the rest of it is pretty average thrutching.

Nice route. I wish the crack went on for longer. Rope drag is really bad at the top. Probably best led on doubles.

Who would have thought a 14 could be so epic? We had walked up in the rain to do Wizard of Ice, but it was dripping wet. This was dry, and looked fun, and with a name like 'Smooth Journey' what could possibly go wrong? My journey was anything but smooth. After slinging the top of the pillar at the start, I made the moves (which felt pretty stiff for 14) across to the next set of pockets, and shoved my hand into a jam. The inside of the pocket felt strange and squishy, then within seconds I felt something crawling on me. Before I knew it multiple bees were stinging my hand, then swarming around my head, crawling into my helmet and down my neck, and stinging every bit of exposed skin they could find. In the ensuing excitement the only gear I could find was a crappy 0.3 camalot in a shallow flared placement, which in my increasingly panicked state I decided to trust to prevent a horrific pendulum across into the pillar. I slumped onto the crappy cam, Andrew lowered me off, the crappy cam held, and a cloud of bees followed me all the way to the ground. As soon as my feet touched the ground I was yelling for slack and running away from the rock, while frantically flailing my arms around my head and ripping off my helmet, jacket and shirt. It would have made excellent comedy for anyone watching. In the end I got stung at least 20 times

Third pitch is amazing.

Accidentally linked the first two pitches by climbing too far up the initial crack then traversing a bit higher. Sounds like I missed the best bit of the route, but it was still very good. Last pitch had a 8m run out, no-fall section above a ledge on about grade 15 crimps.

First climb at Kalbarri. Really nice, albeit a bit sandy.

Ok climbing on good rock, but not much worthwhile gear for almost 15m off the ground.

Andrew led the short offwidth first pitch. I got the second one with the very poorly protected slab moves off the ledge. Pretty good though.

I think I did this on our first trip to Tassie years ago. Whatever. It was still really nice, cruisy jamming..

Launched up this without any idea what it was. Climbed up as far as the grotty wide crack with the grass in the top, looked down at my gear 5m below my feet and the pointy ledge thing 5m below that and decided discretion was the better part of valour. Downclimbed back to my gear, built a belay to bring John up, then traversed 2m right into the next crack system over and finished easily to the top.

Best route at Hillwood.

With Graham. Absolutely classic. The first pitch is a sandbag, so don't try this if you're only just leading the grade.
