Begehungen in Mount Wellington als Hang dog

Got to hop on this again after all my beta dreams over the last week. One go on lead and then a TR go. Such an incredible climb with amazing face climbing followed by a tough mantle and cool lay back to top it off. Hopefully will be on it again sooooon for the send.

Had a play on the bottom section. Couldn't make the move past the 3rd bolt, but the section below that came together fairly quickly. Very cool climbing. Keen to get back on it.

Physically not hard but there are a lot of thin moves above small gear. Gear is good but not plentiful. Take small cams.

fun, and some good fall practice. real minging crimpys, and then a sequency crux, that i stick clipped through, after a few falls. quite nice climbing, good sidepulls.

Wasn’t feeling overly strong today after a couple rest days. Ended up having 3 burns on the second pitch, worked it all out and was cruising but rushed my sequence in the crux and fell off, super classic route such wicked movement and flow 🌈⚡️

Immobilised with fear after a month off climbing so seconded the route instead and had a great time

Mega hang dog, it started raining, I started clip sticking. Super lovely climb and prefect proj, will be having beta dreams until I can try it again.

I need kneebar lessons.

Fun route. A few hangs.

Great climb! Whole thing felt like a dance up the face and the arete. nice flow up to the first crux where I fell (bolt 8). Took me a frustrating while to work out a sequence I could do, but finally did it, using teeny feet crystals and slapping for the jug. Stunning technical climbing up the arete above, with some super funky and balancy moves. friction for days, and a crimpy finish! Can't wait to try again!

Epic. Difficult and sustained the whole way with some really unlikely sections. Could not get the traverse at the bottom, needs more work.

Drove up in the rain, hiked up in the rain, climbed in the rain. Second pitch was pretty dry somehow but became progressively wetter, first was soaked. Good session, the colours of the gums in the wet are so vibrant and beautiful.

Two attempts at pitch 1. A fall very low in the first one and a (surprising!!) fall at the very top on the second one. But what an amazing pitch of climbing. Wish I was good enough to try the second pitch too. Hopefully next time.

Awesome! Lovely jamming getting progressively harder, into deep recessed fists, and an all-consuming thrutch. Came off around the Hejira bolt. worked out some cool techniques i like for the wide crux. at the top its thin again, then wide again. Ass-kicking and glorious. Super fun, but would be so exhausting to link. Stoked with how well I did, keen to project!

Went right. Climb goes left & can confirm it’s safe to whip that way too. Fun enough

Super nice climbing, especially crux sequence. Not the warmup I’d planned. Got insanely flash pumped.

Weird and hard! some powerful and techy moves! burl thru a lil roof, then cool face, and funky layback at the top (+cheeky double kneebar)! interesting and heady. done in holey too-big shoes, and with a sore thumb

Another lead attempt. High point probably the same, but made it to the top without pulling on gear this time at least. Need more thrutch endurance.

Started raining during the climb - definitely added an extra layer of fear factor! Great moves, but quite committing

Cool moves. Broke a large footer but made a new jug so that’s nice.

An absolute mega classic, got my feet for dolerite on this climb finally, had a sit on gear, straightened myself up and punched to the top, epic

We came down to consider rebolting with anchors-feels sandbagged at 23 without bridging across chimney. Came to no decision. Weirdly it was chalked up

The first half was fine, but a crack that stays wide blue for ever in the second half is my anti style and I’m not that interested in embracing the pain.
