Begehungen in Horseyard Crag

Done as an escape from the gearless 17 (Python), real fun, but lots of sketchy rock, this area really needs a trundle

If this is an 17 I’m a horse. Super staunch but well protected crux, then less protected but easy

Exceptional climb!

Great for the grade

Fantastic climb for the grade, but Lots of loose blocks. Went to pull the anchor and realised on of the pieces (omega link cam #1) had been pushed into the crack and over cammed, spent 1.5 hours on the ledge in the sun, attempting to removed it to no avail. If anyone makes it up before i get up there again, and manages to remove it, i would be eternally grateful for it’s return

Enjoyable soft for the grade route

First ever trad lead climb, this time with coaching from flukeydukey on belay about how and when to place gear. Plenty of spots for rest and practicing gear placement. Opted to not climb through the top Perfect Ending as we were pushed for time but really loved the cerebral approach to trad leading.

Finally climbed right through this after sticking the crux a couple times. All up I'd say I've solved this crux about four different ways and each time it's been fun.

Thought I'd try lead this today but was put in my place falling early on my first top rope ascent for the morning....will need a few more top rope ascents to nail the crux sequences with thin protection

This climb has haunted Cail and I for the past two months. A lead attempt last year resulted in 3 falls through the early crux and my tail between my legs. Previous climb here a few weeks ago I felt I'd nailed the 'right sequence' for me on a top rope. Today I attempted to lead it straight up and fell again (almost a groundfall) and felt I was back to square one. Back on the top rope.....and successfully through the crux. Another attempt at leading and FINALLY got through. Relief!....and I swear the most perplexing '17' I've ever been on as well as a personally rewarding ascent due to the time taken to finally 'get there'.

Enjoyable and worthwhile

The crux of this one has been messing with me for a while (or I've been messing with it). Today I worked out the footholds that seem to work for me.

Great gear and an excuse to use a number 5 cam! I did this a number of times on top rope just for fun. Still flaky as a fish cleaning station; that's Alice climbing though!

Jam galore at the start and then the fun fades after that. I wanted to do this over and over.... perhaps worth leading one day.

Everyone who has climbed this agrees that life is certainly worth the risk of cancer. Due to the name, this climb makes you ponder on the nature of all things. I wonder what conversations the first ascenter had that day.

A couple of jams here and there, but totally unnecessary because of the abundance of jugs. Just a stroll up the cliff!

Nailed this one. Too easy. Watch out for the loose bits!

This was much easier than 'Invertebrate Moron' but still enjoyable with plenty of good flakes to grab among some not so certain flakey rock.

Dogged on this about 15 times over two visits before sticking the early crux. Great fun. I reckon it's harder than a 17. Top roped only this time.
