Begehungen in Te Waipounamu / The South Island als Attempt

Wet and full of water, didn't bother trying to top-out.

Couldn't figure out how to move left and top out, landed weird and decided to give my ankles a break haha.

Got to the 'start hold' but ashamed to admit that I couldn't commit to the dyno without knowing where the jug was and only one pad.

Didn't know which way I was supposed to go at the top.

Redpoint attempts, got pumped but improved my beta over previous attempts.

Kinda spooky without a spotter haha.

Easy on-sight, whiped at the top cuse of water grrr and im shit

Hard for v4 maybe missing something, got close the the top

Don't know how to crack climb... scratched up with nothing to show for it...

Dry fired right hand at first bulge, punched the rock and came down to bandage bloody fingers.

Made it to upper roof again but while pumped a bit Gs heel felt really bad. Tried the sequence pumped twice and just lowered. Need to be pretty fresh to send but also warmed up. Hopefully next session and it doesn't become another "Mental as Anything"!

Had a good rest just before the roof, messed up my beta slightly but still hit the glory jug over the lip and somehow was too pumped to hold it, fell as I was swinging my feet right and got some nice hang time! Power endurance is a must for this thing.

Had to clean off my draws at the start so pulled on to see how far I could get, got the same high point of grabbing the pocket on the bulge and clipping then lost my feet and couldn't grab the left crimper. Not the pumpiest climb but I feel it could creep up on you if you don't rest efficiently.

Feeling a little fatigue and lost my way again with foot beta

Feet wrong again, decided to try go from the rest ledge up to the big move, got that clean

Went for the onsight, gave it everything, came up short. Great climbing, lots of good rests but surely at least 3 sections of hard 23 moves. G went on top rope afterwards to clean and still struggled in a few places!

Fell at the last hard draw after clipping my hand was spooge, worked out different feet

Fell again at the same place, worked out different feet again, hopefully next shot.

Felt ok, sweaty and fell at the same high point. G made me try her beta and it felt better but meant skipping a draw until afterwards.

Same thing, crux feels so delicate, kept playing with feet and hand sequences as I got sweatier

Started her and finished just left of the next route but were climbing it with hands behind our backs using a no hand kneebar, Stas sent I was heartbreakingly close.

Started again then when I fell off questioned why I was even on it 😅

Not sure if you're meant to top out. I cant see how it would be a V5 without it though. Kept slapping the top sloper then losing feet and falling

Got about half way up it, but feet kept slipping off. this climb is too polished for a hot day, cooler temps needed

Best route in paynes ford, definitely jump on this one. i'll have to come back to get the tick cause i definitely didn't back off cause its shit, not at all no.

Ill have to live this one though others stores. got to the thrid bolt and backed off from the runnout, head game was not high enough that day

Couldn’t clip the final bolt, super overhang on smallish holds

Took a 4m whip on my onsight attempt. Third bolt, ended up about 30cm off the ground

Tricky start

24 in guide. First bolt 6m off the deck

Juggyesque pockets (they are deceiving) to a mantle. Afterwards is the mother of all mantles... is pretty darn hard

Bit loose and dirty, will send next time hopefully!

Three attempts, couldn’t land the crux move. Next time.

Had a solid few burns. All moves up to the final crimp. That crimp is a razor 🪒 didn’t want to loose to much skin coming into the weekend.

Pretty polished. Hard to read. No one got the onsight 😂

Both of us felt that the crux move wasn't 17 lol. On the rap down, found the hidden hold super far to the right......

About grade 19 to the crux. Effectively a hard boulder on a rope. No feet, big moves.
