Beschreibung

Geyikbayırı offers a full range of routes ranging from the easy (5a) to the difficult (9a) in one of the most pristine and scenic areas of Turkey.

The official guidebook by Öztürk Kayıkcı can be bought at the camps in Geyikbayırı.

Einschränkungen

Access is easy, by car or minibus, via a single paved road. Depending on where you stay furthest access is about a 30 minute walk.

Zustieg

Geyikbayırı is just 40km from the airport in Antalya. If you are coming from abroad it is best to fly into Antalya and take a taxi to your accommodation or rent a car.

All approaches are free access as it is all part of a national park with no rigid rules and no supervision.

Übernachtung

There is heaps of places to stay in Geyikbayırı. Most people will stay at Josito for the Social vibes and also the ease of finding climbing partners as well and they do a really good decent Pizza Night. There is also Flying Goat Hostel which is just opposite Sarkıt crag. This two camps/Hostel supports the local development and bolting so most people will stay here but regardless there is heaps of cheap options and if you are planning to stay long term you can always discuss the price of monthly rental with the owners/manager.

Another option of course is to stay in town near Konyalti and rent a car as it works out to be the same if you are renting a bungalow at the camps.

Ethik

There are no restrictions aside from respecting the environment as the local government has been very tolerant and we don't want that to change. All bolting is stainless steel and not more than 10 years old. Between 20 to 30 new routes are opened every year and visitors are welcome to contribute to that with local advice.

Geschichte

This area was discovered in 1995 by one of Turkey's top climbers. It has since grown very fast and is widely considered to be one of the best areas in the world for all levels and ages.

The location is a short 15 walk up the paved road from Flying Goat Camp. At the junction to the big entrance sign saying –Welcome Geyikbayiri– stay on the right paved road and walk uphill for another 10 minutes. Here you must turn right after the squiggly road sign onto an obvious dirt road (36.883254, 30.468889).

Follow the dirt road eastwards and walk past goat pens and plastic shepherd huts (be friendly and respectful). Then you will come to a flat open field. Walk (5 minutes) and follow red markers to Moon via a faint path leading down the hill and left towards the crag. Do not follow the orange paint going left from the field, it is from the Shepherds and will get you lost.

Beschreibung

Mağara (Turkish for "cave") is the big cave just above Flying Goat Camp. The first routes in Geyikbayırı were bolted here. The sector is south-facing, but routes in the cave get some shade during the day. Most of the climbing is steep and athletic on tufas and highly featured, though sometimes already quite polished rock.

From the main road (36.877603, 30.482461), take the uphill path starting just opposite of Flying Goat Camp (sign to 'Doyran Göleti'). The trail branches into several small trails, all leading up to sectors 'Sarkıt', 'Mağara' and 'Anatolia'. Take the ones leading straight towards the big cave in front of you (2-3 min).

The trail branches into several small trails, all leading up to sectors 'Sarkıt', 'Mağara' and 'Anatolia'. Keep to the right and you'll reach the righthand side of 'Anatolia' in 2-3 min.

From 'Mağara', just walk right around the corner to reach the lefthand side of 'Anatolia'.

This sector is just right beside 'Anatolia'. Vertical and slabby face climbing on mostly gray, quite sharp rock.

The trail branches into several small trails, all leading up to sectors 'Sarkıt', 'Mağara' and 'Anatolia'. Keep to the right and you'll reach the righthand side of 'Anatolia' in 2-3 min. From there, continue right along the base of the wall for 30m to reach the first routes of 'Geyik'.

Zustieg

You can park your car at the parking lots near Alabalik Restaurant. Follow the path up the hillside road. Go to sector Echoes. From Echoes right walk 50m by the rock side. You will reach a fixed rope and a 3m metal ladder. After climbing the ladder you arrive Corridor. Corridor is right is shady all day. Corridor left is sunny in the afternoon. If you dont want to climb the ladder you can turn right, pass along Top Alani sector and walk around the rocks in 5 minutes.

Brand new sector (2021/22), just right of 'Echoes' and 'Koridor'[3189478311]. Great variety of styles, angles and grades. Some routes are still quite sharp and need more traffic, but the rock quality is very good and the bolting very encouraging.

Although south-facing, the belay area and the lower parts of many routes are sheltered by rocks and trees, such that climbing is possible even on sunnier days.

Going from Echoes towards Koridor, go right past the via ferrata and follow the cairns for a couple of minutes until you reach the rightmost part of Top Alani.

From the main road, turn at the signs advertising Alabalik restaurants. After about 750m there is a cream WC building on the right: follow the path to the right passing a goat pen. Unfortunately this goat pen may leave you infested with fleas. Maybe it's not so bad in the cooler seasons?

Most route lengths have been greatly overestimated in the guidebook (some "40m" routes are <30m). Some have been amended on theCrag, but as a general rule, you can do almost all routes on a 70m rope (hint: tie a knot in the end). The exception to this are the ones marked as over 40m.

Almost all of the longer routes have midway anchors, so even on a 60m rope you can do nearly everything here if you're willing to put in the extra effort.

Continue up the road for about 100m, then take a left down the scree to reach Akyarlar beach (also marked with cairns) There could be an optional route on sea, via canoe, SUP board, or similar. You can park at (36.490400, 30.454840). From where obvious trail starts DOWN and goes about 150 meters (NE) by the slope till you reach "Right 2" sector.

If you are getting by car: from the main road take the turn nearby a spring (the main road makes sharp hairpin here). The will be two dirty roads, take the right one. In about 200 meters there will be a right turn, which will lead to a glade with coordinates above. You can actually get a clue of these roads on the satellite image.

Located in a small canyon it's always a bit cooler there, so good climbing when the weather is really hot. You can climb both walls, so the area is split in two sectors, left and right.

From the bridge in Cirali follow the road away from the seaside until there are no more houses/shops on your right side. Go right towards the river and cross the riverbed. Alternatively, you may have to scramble over the south side of the bridge, and walk upstream to the crag, crossing the stream whenever you can.

Cennet is Heaven in turkish and they aren't far off. This is the best wall in turkey!!! Dead vertical to slightly over hung limestone walls with a mix of tufa blobs, pockets and crimps of all sizes. A must vist if your going to Geyikbayiri and you fancy a couple of days by the beach.

Grey walls of tiny holds, some real test pieces here up to 8c

Long Intimidating Tufa Lines with some of the best sport climbs this region has to offer.

Beschreibung

At the moment at the Çitdibi rocks are 88 routes (102 pitches, including extensions) in the grades 5c-9? , most of the routes you can find in the grades 7a to 8b. The routes are all modern and safe equipped with glue-in bolts. The crags of Çitdibi offer very various styles of climbing.

In the right side Canyon sector you can find spectacular tufa lines on rock with blue and orange stripes. The crag is in this part 140m high, what makes this sector also attractive for fans of hard multi pitch routes. Some of the routes here are very long (up to 55m! single pitch). To climb in this sector, it's best you come with an 80m or 100m rope. With a 70m rope you can rappel on intermedia belays or lower of to the opposite of the canyon. The grades in this sector are between 6c+ and 9a?.

At the opposite side of this sector you can find the left side Canyon sector with easier routes ( 5c -7b+). The rock here is not so colourful as at the opposite side, but some of the routes offer still nice climbing on mostly crimps and crags. After the early spring time, when a lot of water drops from the opposite wall on this sector this crag can be a little dirty, before the first climbers brushed it.

The sector Magara [cave] showes up with steep athletic climbs on mostly big stuff, the sector hosts some of the best routes of Çitdibi. The place and surrounding of this place is specially nice and even perfect for families. Some extensions, that are worth to do, are up to 55m long - so bring a long rope with you. Grades between 7a+ and 8b+

Einschränkungen

No Access issues but please keep in mind to pack your rubbish, cigarette buds etc and bring it down with you.

Zustieg

Approach is through Masal Refuge which is own by Tobias and Duygu also the owners of Josito in Geyikbayiri, Pass through a gate and make sure you close it and follow the signs and cairn up a gentle sloping hike to reach the top of the wall where you will see Magara one with a swing there. It takes about 20 minutes to hike up or 10 if you are fast.

Geschichte

The Çitdibi rock climbing area is one of the youngest climbing spots in Turkey. The crag, which is situated on about 1000m altitude, was found by chance while a mountainbike tour in 2002. The main development of the crag had to wait untill the year 2013 when the bolting team of Petzl opened a lot of new routes for the Petzl Rocktrip 2014.

Einschränkungen

It is private property after the parking area until the forest. DO not damage the cultivated land and only use the dirt road passing trough the land.

Zustieg

Drive to the Kizilalan City Forest(public picnic area) 15km. Enter the picnic area(you will see the big gate on the right at the entrance). Park your car at the end of the picnic area next to the gate(belongs to private property). Start walking and follow the dirt road trough the fields. When the dirt road disappears keep walking straight and you will see the forest(looks like entrance) where the crag path. In the forest, follow the path next to unclear creek(no water)and after 2 mins stay on right side(cross the creek) and keep walking straight on the clear path until the Alanya view.
