Begehungen in White Rock Spring Peak

After the traverse exit down the immediate gully you find yourself in. Follow the Karen’s all the way down, long descent bring shoes for comfort. Leader should be ok with long runout pitches for P3 and 5.

Guided by Steffan Gregory. Done in 8 shorter pitches instead of 6.

We found the start of the first pitch the most difficult, and the rest was much easier.

Overall fun, large variety of moves - weird chimney and cracks, with a little face climbing.

Descent hiking down wasn't as fun...

Start hold mysteriously broke circa January 2021. Goes around v6. Again no one knows for sure when it broke.

strenuous pistol squat to undercling then deadpoint/dyno to the lip. Almost exhilirating.

stand start slightly easier than sit.

blew the flash. probably the best climb in the area.

3 Pitches, 5.5, 5.7, 5.8 PG.

Good anchors at the top of the first and third pitches.

Top of the second pitch has 25 mm tape and some 6 mm cord as the anchor. Seems dodgy, but it was reasonably safe when we went through.

Third pitch isn't difficult per se, but it'll get the blood pumping as it's quite exposed and there's not a lot of good places to anchor.

The guide book suggests that there's an "easy walk down" through the gully. This is unsafe and it's much better to rappel back down the climb (instead of rappelling from a set of mildly dodgy slings in the second pitch, you'll do 3 very dodgy rappels on the walk down).

Did the 5.9 variant start. Man what an adventure especially that we were simul climbing it on 1 rack. Fun day out, did more hiking than climbing!
