Ascents in Gara Gorge having Beta

It happened.

Stoke! Super cruisy, super fun. It's not just a crimp fest, has a bit of variation to it with good rests everywhere. Crux is the step right at the 3rd bolt. Seemed over too quick

Succumbed to the peer pressure and the mounting psyche of what would end up as Alec's first V7 and got on this. High humidity and spooge factor, could barely hold the left crimp let alone dyno off it, which makes Alec's send (and then repeat for the camera) so much more impressive. I think he had 35 goes!

After 3 attempted “I’m Finished let’s move on’s” and slowly grinding down Skin on a day that potentially could’ve been awful, stoked to have dynoed through the wet rock, moss and pine needles to send this one, then to send it again for good measure

Not the best line at the cliff but another worthy line in its own right at the grade

Very close attempt, slight adjust in foot sequence for the second crux worked out well

This is neat, deserves another star. Delicate start and the more moves you do the easier it gets so just keep shuffling! Feels pretty soft for a gara 23

One attempt, fell turning the lip. Managed to figure that out quite quick and it's not too bad but the offwidth at the top is some proper type 2 fun that took a bit of working. Should go in another attempt or 2

Footer blew on scrittle at the start, then got up the flake and traversed to the roof crack and rested. Half did the move through the lip. Pumped silly

Physically felt good but the head wasn't in it, felt quite gripped. First sesh back so I guess it's to be expected hopefully few sessions the head will catch up.

SEND! No big deal in the end, just take my time and keep shaking out. Good stamina route for me

The new gear beta is great walking or unclipping behind you, leaving just 2 reds at the first lip and two yellows at the second. Fell at crux again, the jams are fine I just need much more weetbix and more stamina.

Repeat for the paparazzi. Did something weird at the top and missed a hold and did a funky rockover to finish

The first third is horribly hollow and loose for gear but otherwise climbs well. Topped out on the ledge. Didn’t do the crack which needs a good clean. Not inspired to lead it

Holy shit I had to fucken try so god damn hard on the end of this thing so pumpy, felt like I was gonna vomit. So damn good.

Stoked Volo got this for the 3rd ascent. Almost day flashed it, but ripped off the sweet crux undercling and was gutted. But turned out its still quite doable without it, maybe slightly harder but same grade. Got it 3rd go.

Gara delivers another classic hiding in plain sight. Felt impossible at first and slowly unlocked the micro beta. Had a bunch of 'ok one last go's, mincing up my right thumb and then stoked to send it when I was thrashed and thought I was going backwards

Took me like a year to get back to this, but managed to snag the send on the first session back at it! Rad moves on this thing, sneaky toe hook drop knee beta is probably a touch easier than the intended (for long people at least) but still HARD for V6.

Great little route - another beautiful location in the gorge. Thanks for the squeeze tour Brendan!

Can work my way up to the undercling but struggled to move thru it to the side pull and dyno.

Sploogey, mostly used the left. how you lead this, particularly going right or direct, without the sponge crack being bone dry I do not know.

What a banger. Sweet moves and beautiful location

Really hard to protect. I bitched out on the first go because I tried to place the crucial nut before the crux and fucked it completely and below me was like a 0.2 in a detached flake as the entire flake section is all detached so I was like FUCKEN TAAAAAKE. Second go because this was after the like fucken 6 burns on kiss me deadly literally every time I’d clip my biceps would cramp stuck so fell on the crux. Great climbing though!
