one day stop over on a family holiday for dad and i to get a climbing fix. i think this is the one we did. also known as Punta Anna? if so, linked into Gianna Aglio but due to the cable car not running and being massively sandbagged by the mountain guides it turned into a huge alpine epic with minimal food, clothing and water and almost 2km of vertical gain and 30km of walking. typical

Had a crack at this ultimate classic climb. We have decided to name a new variant: "Don(key)" (V+ max, 450m) simply get lost a few times, clip the wrong anchors, arrive at the halfway ledge too late, then abseil down the 1st half of the route, thus spending almost as much time on the wall is if you were to do the entire climb. Hasta la vista, baby

22.30 Uhr. Ich starte mit Peter Anzenberger an der Alpenliebe: " Alles läuft perfekt, wir sind schnell, kann alles Rotpunkt klettern, bis… gegen Ende der Schlüsselseillänge (10. SL/9) wird es plötzlich dunkel… Der Akku meiner Stirnlampe ist leer. Hab keine Chance in der Dunkelheit bis zum Standplatz zu klettern. Im 2. Versuch ein Griffausbruch und ich segle in die tiefschwarze Nacht. Etwas genervt gelingt mir die Seillänge im 3. Anlauf. Der Weg zum Gipfel ist frei (noch 8 SL/ 8). 4.00 Uhr morgens erreichen wir den Gipfel. Um 6.00 Uhr springen Peter Gambs und ich über die Scolatolikante. 5 Sekunden freier Fall, meine Schirmöffnung nicht optimal, kann aber gut korrigieren, Landung OK. Drei Zinnen Base & Climb

Two days. Climbed until the main bivy after the hard part and did the rest of the route on sunday. Extremely hard and sustaining climbing, The 3rd to last pitch (where you could downclimb) is extremly hard if climbed directly (I assume 7c/+ ish) with an old piton just too far below you.

Ich schaffe die Stelle im ersten Anlauf. Der volle Wahnsinn!!! In den oberen anspruchs-vollen 7- Längen machen sich erste Ermüdungszustände bemerkbar." Um 14.00 Uhr erreichen Alexander und ich das Gipfelkreuz der Großen Zinne. Nach einer kurzen Pause springe ich mit Peter Gambs von der Großen Zinne. 8 Sekunden freier Fall, Schirmöffnung diesmal gut, gerade, vielleicht etwas zu hart, Landung OK. Drei Zinnen Base & Climb

Um 15.30 Uhr steige ich mit Martin in die letzte Route. Obwohl Ötzi trifft Yeti nur mit 8+ bewertet ist, verlangt sie mir alles ab. Martin muss mich mehrmals am Standplatz wachrütteln. Energie ist kaum mehr vorhanden. Es ist ein richtiger Kampf und nun habe ich meine Herausforderung gefunden. Gegen 19.30 Uhr erreiche ich mit Martin den Gipfel. Ich bin am Ziel, ich bin angekommen. In the last pitch, there is a piton at the exit of the dihedral. There is an abseil point on a tree if you continue up and left on the summit plateau. Alternatively, there are two abseil points on the right, on bolts, but you should be careful as they are leading on top of the route itself or sport routes. You will need two abseils to get down, depending on the abseil points you will choose you may need more than 30m of ropes to get to the ground. We did one abseil of 15-20m and another one of 33-35m joining two half ropes.
