It was daunting to look up at the second pitch, but wasn't as hard as it looked. Jamming training on the Janicepts helped a lot I think

P1 only. It was fairly tricky and I'm proud to have got myself up there

20 | ★★★ The Phoenix - with Mungo Skyring | 45m | Blue Mountains | ★ Good | Sun 18th Jun 2023 | |||
Didn't find the walk in track at the top and did some bush bashing and an extra rap to get in (needed to walk further north along the well-maintained walking track after coming down from the parking spot). After that was over with, it was a nice climbing experience. Mostly good gear. The crack is pretty vegetated and dirty though.

What a great route! Everyone should do it. I didn't know which way to go and I made a detour up to the anchor of the 24/26 to the right, found I had nothing to clip it with, then climbed desperately down again and then finished up the crack and chimney to the proper anchor haha

Swung leads with Dave first. I'm not a fan of runout slabs after my arapiles incident, but it was a pretty cool route in a great position. Got pretty thirsty. No water at Moir's Mate

Much better than the first time I tried it 4 or 5 years ago

Repeat. Misremembered what gear we'd need so endured a silly runout. Not especially smart for the third session climbing after breaking my ankle. Climbing in the sun was nice

A great climb! I didn't plan well, maybe in order to increase the sketch level, but luckily had my brand new astro nuts on my rack, which were very necessary tio protect P1. Roxy led P2 and I enjoyed glorious toprope comfort through the roofy bit, then led it to the top and belayed off a tree. Good fun.

TRS, two laps. Pitches 2, 3 and 4 only. Felt like I was going to throw up in that offwidth at the start 🤮 All kinds of jamming: hands, fists, stacked hands; it was awesome

Very challenging jamming near the top with no face holds even good enough for feet. I'd like to redpoint this one day

I fell off a lot and then pulled on gear, but still couldn't get to the top. A bad experience tbh. I still think I'm missing the gene for crack climbing
