Ascents in Townsville having Beta

Yeehaw, very nice. Left a chunk of finger on the jug for good measure. Absolutely soaking wet top out, the soon to be retired Miuras put in a good last showing.

Inspiring all round. Iain’s cruisy day flash and the overall magnitude of this problem made me slightly less skeptical of bouldering.

Completely ruined after a two week trip, was happy to simply do all the moves. Setup a top rope for these dodgy old ankles to try out the top moves. Will take some training, better skin, and some bigger balls to actually go for some send burns. I guess I’ll be back.

Did all the moves except the second one, which feels incredibly close. Holds stayed impressively dry, but my shoes (and bum) did not. A nice day with some UQ friends, was interesting to have an audience. Pity about the weather and poor overlapping of our trip schedules. Keen for more attempts on this rig. Think it'll go if I can have a few sessions on it with good conditions.

Good morning warm-up.

I officially have a fear of lay-backing on trad lead, as it’s been the cause of both of my two trad falls.

Luckily this time I fell onto a ledge and didn’t weight the rope, maintaining the flash.

Gear through the crux was not confidence inspiring at all. Made it through and had a foot pop resulting in a scream of pure terror. Sat on next piece after that to collect myself.

Lil foot slip. Too tired to have another burn.

Really fun climb with plenty of good holds..once you find them.

Fun, can be done a bunch of different ways.

Enjoyable send, super close to the campsite.

Barefoot send.

Fantastic lower moves. Questionable rock high up makes for an engaging but easy finish. Downclimb was the real crux.

Down climb is sketch

Should be a great addition to the area. Slightly overhung, small feet, powerful moves to small holds, what more could you want! Madoc and I are thinking it will probably be in the V5/V6 range.

Felt honoured to get the 2nd ascent on Madoc's most recent addition to Harvey's. Great to see Madoc still developing even to this day. Always a pleasure and inspirational to climb with this master boulderer.

No problems with the sit-start, looking for a linking move that will bring it all together.

Underrated problem. The climb is on quality rock, great moves, and a spooky top. On the harder end of V3

Problem is a classic "Steve Baskerville sandbag" and that was before I broke the one good foothold. I repeated the climb to make sure it still goes without the foothold, it still works with some slightly different beta but its definitely harder now. Madoc and I both agree it's closer to V4.

Would’ve guessed V3 before seeing grade but granted was full sun. Very very sharp rock though, skin didn’t like it
