2 Laps - just to the last bolt (24 to here) clean, as the last moves were dripping wet. Managed to punch this one out, sans chalk, placing draws, no worries whatsoever. Pretty chuffed with this, given that I haven't steep climbed in the 7 months since my accident. My core and calves felt it the next morning, though! This is my favourite of all the routes on the upper ledge.

Dogged my first try when starting from the 23. Couldn't do the crux move. Then went up the normal start and smashed it

Onsight didn’t go very well, a lot of useless chalk around. One fall at crux with a bad sequence. Sorted the sequence second go then jugs to the top, but not a drop of chalk along the way, had to brush quite a bit of spider webs off. I sent pretty comfortably second go. Much nicer with beta and draws on. No knee bar, oh, but I can get 4 fingers in the first pocket (with a squeeze) Hop on now, the top is chalked! It’s not a sandbag!

Minging on that right crimp is not my idea of a warm up, didn’t use the side pull. Linked into Stereo. Wouldn’t pull on it again, but it’s good that it gives you another way to start these routes.

grade 19 pitches definitely get harder as you go, great exposed position with entertaining climbing on great holds, with the added benefit of the hardest moves being protected by fixed hangers. definitely worth changing quickdraws to include hms or round stock beeners to mitigate any chance of the carrots falling off the small bolt heads.

Bloody good day with Galen. Onya for leading the draggy pitches. Still feels like an adventure despite knowing the way. Possible endangered plant sighted on pitch 4 (TBC). Up there on my fav routes in the Mts 6.5hrs on ropes, 10hrs car to car, at a relaxed pace Glad of a head torch even though we used the stars to get home

Notes: Splitter condies. Rack: -21/2 ropes (60s but 50s would have been ideal). -anchor kits (just quads would have been fine) ~12 bolt plates -Bunch of alpine draws with bolt plate compatable biners -Few draws (would just bring alpines next time) -Few double slings -Set of nuts (unsed none) -single set cams equiv 0.3-3 Approx approx 1hr Raps3 approx 45 mins (low angle featured terrain, would have been better to bag/saddlebag), can see where groups stop too early. Pitched, approx 2.5hrs on route with some routefinding/carrot finding faff (hint- several belays are 'over the edge' on ledges and can be hard to spot). Belays mostly double carrots/GIMBs. Three star atmosphere/location, many bivy caves, route best framed as mountaineering adventure terrain, mostly rambling with a few spooky moves.

Thought Tom Thumb was just a little better. Didnt place a nut, but could have. Could have used a size 4 cam too! Nice high DRB with good vision to previous belay. The now standard trad finish had a hairy little hand traverse heading left once the crack reaches the ferny scoop. I think an offset nut would have been mint to protect this move until you can plug a green cammie in the horizontal. Enjoy
