Begehungen in Echo Gully

The first 2 bolt is a bit scary like a 21. After that is like a 19.

Not 22. I guessed 19 from the ground and was happy with 19 after climbing. I’m bad at grades though. In hindsight the start was pretty awkward. 20/21?

The combination of sharp crimps and high humidity from Auckland resulted in destroyed skin beyond belief. Almost got the climb though, next time

Fell off going for the top move and found new beta for the top

Rworked the moves and showed Claudia and Kyle the moves

Good climb! Had three attempts, got the beta, just need to be fresh next attempt!

When you find feet it all easy after that.

Mantle practice!! 🪨👍🏼 I switched to my half-size smaller shoes so I could jam a toe into a barely existent pocket halfway through the mantle 😬

Very mossy and felt quite hard for the grade. Some relatively committing moves.

Almost deserves 2 stars but a little short. Tricky moves to link back-to-back.

Too damp to correctly grip the holds but I've got the beta dialed for next session.

First attempt of the day. 6th overall. Did the dead point and got onto the side pull, but fingers were frozen and got too worried about not being able to feel the hold to execute the next move. New high point though!

Attempt #2 of the day. Attempt #7 overall. Fired off the lower left rail and did some damage to the knuckles on the last two fingers of my right hand. Got back on and did the climb in two overlapping sections.

Attempt #3 of the day. Attempt #8 overall. Soooo close! This should have been the red point. Fell on the very last hold. Bottled it. More blood on the left hand some how. But still a new high point

Red point! Sun had come out and hands were warm. Dead point seems more and more like just another move. Nice to get this one done today

Repeat. Climbed this to put the gear on to L.A.D.

Repeat. Climbed this to take the gear off of L.A.D after Alex decided against another go. Quite a stiff 16. Or I still don't have the beta.

Had a high point which is moving from matched sloper crimp rail below 2nd bolt out left to other sloper crimp rail and moving feet across. Need to work out best way to step up onto that face and crank up for next crimps. (High right foot on rail? Chip instead?)

Dogged the first go to take a wire brush to all the lichen for Alexei's sake. Sent it on the 2and go. Even with a bit less lichen, seems more a 17 than 16 to me.

Attempt #2 of the day. Got the move out to the left edge, but couldn't get set properly for the big dead point up the next ledge, and called a take. Then worked the moves through to the top.

Hang dog. One hang. First time that I have done all the moves in a single ascent. Did the moves in two overlapping sections. I'll definitely send this in the next session

Warm up. A bit hard for the grade and it needed a clean on the left line that we did. Right line looked harder than 16 but maybe we didn't see the obvious

Attempt #1 of the day. Fell attempting move from first edge below the second draw out to the left edge. Then worked the moves through to the top.
