Routes in Northern Tablelands for selected grade

Start as for Spiderskin, but climb the obvious feature to the left where it ends. Then a very long reach to the left onto an slopey sidepull, then up to edge and then mantel finish.

Start on the same juggy hold as for Bus Driver. Low traverse of smooth slopers and ledges to the right. When you hit the end jug or sloper (further right), head up through a micro-crimp/crystally top out.

Sit start low and left on obvious jug, move up and right through features to pocket. Continue right into crimps in dish, big moves up and right then mantle. Probably done a while ago.

Abseil down from tree with sling at top of dome down about 15m towards dead tree. Look for 2 bolt anchor with rings beside tree on small ledge. Abseil again from anchor 20m to slab.

Route takes the orange vertical face on thin crimps to a slight bulge with incipient seam through it. Once through bulge angle eases to anchor.

No bolts are in place yet, just the anchor.

In welsh means "sloping lands", and is the name of a local river. funnily enough originates from Gwynedd where i was last working. Basically, poorly protected first moves gets you to a piton, then the crux.

Start: The second line of bolts.

Up to the second bolt then break out left past more bolts to lower off seventh bolt over lip.

Start about 2m from the left end, just right of the wasps (which are not aggressive). Up through the horizontal breaks, then through the technical face past 2 hangers.

Water level needs to be fairly low. Fantastic juggy start then progressively harder through the face, a big dyno, then probably head left up the arete.

Sit start as for The Altar finishing via Tr'oofed.

Same start as VengaBus but with mantle finish on upper boulder.

Sit start, up using two glorious side pulls and a sharp crimpy top section. Top out to the right of upper boulder.

The highball mega problem, trend up left on pockets

Wild slap to hard lock off and then mantle out right to avoid groove.

The problem avoiding the groove and crimp near the top. Sit start with tough move to pull into under-cling, then slap up right and up for dirty mantle out right.

Sit Start as for Power Monkey but move out left near the top to small v groove hold.

Old project from 2009. Sit start on the arete, up some tough thin moves to a final lunge for the top.

Starts 2m right of large crack on lower boulders (Mosquito Coil). Desperate hands up arete to top out.

First problem on lower boulder section. Sit start on 2 low sidepulls. Pull to rail then high, sharp crimp on right, before moving powerfully left to good ball and top out.

Sit start on same jug as for Crystal Caves but climb straight up via undercling and side pull. Another great problem on featured rock.

Up the arete on the west side

Start as for 'L'envers du decors' then up to crimps at break and on to the arete to finish up 'Thumb Power'

The start flake has recently broken off, leaving the problem much harder. It still awaits a post-break FA.

Start on glued hold, move up and balance your way through thinness to mantle

Sit start then up into the flakes and traverse left until the crack turns vertical.

Crimps on face up to loose flake on slab

Impossible! Mantle on large edge at head height.

Obvious. a little scary

Same start as C.F.J, at the vertical side-pull (above second dish) reach out right to a good crimper on the face, top out using a high left killer crystal.

Straight up cracked Face

Start as for left arete but continue lip traverse

Start hanging on the nostrils

Great rail and right start hold, glassy starting feet

Start on jug under roof, move out and left and up

Jug traverse culminating in biiig dyno with imaginary feet

Stand start opposing on the hanging block under the steep wall, power your way up until you have both feet above the lip.

An overhung punchy little number on the R arete looking down river. To start, pull on using chip for L hand and an open hand crimp on arete for R hand. Heel hook right foot below R hand on arete. Move up through obvious crimps on the underside of the overhanging face and arete. Move up and R to top out. Due to mossy highball nature of this climb, top out is considered as establishing yourself on high mossy crimps with feet set above arete.

Little slopers, could also be a direct start to 'Picnic at Hanging Rock'

Stylishly links the two Catacombe climbs. Start matching on the sloper/lump and chuck feet on where you can. Strong moves down through the 'Catacomb Roof Right' route in reverse (try saying that quickly), before traversing low and transitioning into the Catacombs route. Beware of the dreaded dab during transition.

Start on tiny crimps and dyno to horizontal break, then up to top.

As for QR but continue R along features in seam and poor feet until you reach obvious edge & pocket in roof then up and mantle.

Stand Start at corner of arête on obvious R-hand crimp & L-hand under roof. Move up & L before finishing up through big pinchy/slap-happy lip & topping out. Sit Start potential for a couple of extra grades...

Sit start low on uphill side of boulder on the good edge for right hand. Pull up with right hand (or try matching) to good edge, then up to sloper on arete, to the nice crimp facing the wrong way, up to the bottom of the flake scar and mantel to top out.

Sit down start with foot locks. Lots of offwidth grunting

Blunt arete, with a fairly high wide pinche to start.

Sit start on the obvious sidepull with your right heel up by your hand.

Up crimps and leaning arete left of Vulcanology, over pond after rain.

Stand start, delicate laybacking up the obvious feature to mantle top-out.

Start on burly undercling, then choose your own adventure through the mixture of differ holds: crimp, pinch, jam, slopers up to the right trending horizontal rail

The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club.

The Evan's Stone block is split in two forming a small cavern. FC is burly offwidth roof traverse through this underground crack. Sit start at the far end on double knee bars, traverse right and finish by touching the tip of the large hanging chockstone. A wild and unique fight awaits you.

Burly SDS to NE14

Stand start on arete with LH on a small crimp, RH on the pinchy sidepull. Hard moves up and right off bad starting feet.

Thin ledges to shallow right pocket, left pinch and then up to the right

Start looks impossible but descent further up

The cleanest line on this rock, this project has the potential to be an excellent line. Intended as a stand start on opposing side pull crimps and super obvious foot hold. Move left around the buldge to link onto XA for the top out.

Start as for Obiwan' finish as for Kimono.

Climb Traverse The Apricot moving straight into (no dawdling!) and finishing via Pip & The Apricot's Arete.

Start as for Roofed Boulder Traverse finishing via Tw'oofed.

Sit start at very bottom end of worm hole (cave). Writhe, grovel and squirm your way towards the light without dabbing. Take a headlamp. *This little low-ball ripper is also Gara's 1000th logged route.

Start: The arête immediately left of ‘International Womens Year Cracks’.

Extremely technical climbing up a blunt vertical arête.

Up past three fixed hangers to a slight rest and a small cam placement (Alien or TCU). Continue past a fourth fixed hanger to top.

Belay off tree further back.

Technical face climbing on incuts and then intricate arete and wall to get to the top of the boulder. Classic. May be easier/harder but who knows how to grade blunt arête slab cruxes?

A superb line up the left arête of the dome, giving sustained hard climbing.

Start: At the base of the dome on the left side. Either Abseil in or do 'Labour Force'.

Up the left aide of the arête past a bolt runner then swing around right and up past three more bolts to top with another bolt at top. Tie off trees on mainland for anchor.

“The last laugh should last forever”.

Start: The steep slab about 5m down right from ‘Moral Decline’. Marked and with a bolt anchor at the start.

Up the slab past 4 bolt runners to chains on the ledge.

Start: The second line of bolts, the direct line.

Straight up through bulges to lower off sixth bolt.

Start down on very small ledge (build a semi hanging belay). Follow easy ramp slightly right to first rooflet. Short boulder through this and up easy slab crack into the big main roof. Bust out this through the lip turn (crux). Continue up pumpy headwall then tackle the final third rooflet boulder problem to topout at DBB.

Original aided at 20 M1 and exited left through vegetated alcove, must do third rooflet for the full tick.

Originally a very dangerous route with the possibility of decking at the crux. Has since been rebolted to satisfy the trembling hordes. An absolute bum-stinger! Start: As for Sweet Surrender. Directly up from first bolt on S.S. then trending left from second bolt to third then up (fourth bolt) to exit up groove. Double-bolt belay.

As for Tipitina. Up the steep wall trending left along seam then back right and up to chain in Fingertip Control (placed there by misunderstanding - but left there). Four bolts in total.

Start: In the middle of the main wall right of Slackers And Robbers.

Up thin seam, past FH then up to the easier corner. Good #0.3 in horizontal break to the right and if using double ropes there is also a good 0.2-0.3 in horizontal break on the left. Continue up to anchors on block at top.

The holy grail complete link up of 'SS', past the wasp nest and through 'TIAB' in reverse. And seeings you've come this far why stop now? Complete the trifector by tacking-on TST.
