6- Die Wanne - with David X Sport 12m, 4 Don't Bother

8 meters of easy, damp choss, then suddenly two meters of blank crack dihedral! Used a gaston on the left and wedged my foot into the crack, then reached up for the sidepull. Grabbed the topmost part … and sent it flying, together with myself.

6- Die Wanne - with David X Sport 12m, 4 Don't Bother
Christoph Rauch
Counting this as a red point, even though I didn't start from the ground. The start really isn't worth doing twice. The dihedral is actually worthwhile, but it's just a few moves long. Tried again with the same technique, jamming my foot into the crack, and it worked out nicely since nothing broke off. The top out is again quite chossy, but with big blocks instead of little crumbly stuff. No anchor, used a tree as an abseil point.

5 Knochenriss - with Ellen Sport 12m Good
Christoph Rauch
Quite nice, actually. Climbed most of it in chimney technique. Felt relatively safe, but a big cam isn't a bad idea before the second bolt. No anchor again, abseiled from the bolt on top of the wall.

7+ Mayon - with David X Sport 31m
Christoph Rauch
The wet start didn't exactly inspire confidence, neither did the fact that the most important hold to get out from below the bulge seemed extremely brittle, followed by a reachy move into a slimy, lichen-filled pocket. Had to sit in the rope, managed to go on to the next bolt, but bailed there because all the lichen-covered slopers were still a bit too slimy. Didn't have a brush either.

5+ Langer Weg - with David X Sport 25m Very Good
Christoph Rauch
Wonderful #warmup. Challenging, but not too hard. Loose blocks in the beginning, but then a relatively compact crack dihedral with an airy chimney finish (a blue cam and a sling for a little rock tunnel were helpful).

6- Westverschneidung - with David X Sport 30m Classic
Christoph Rauch
Amazing dihedral with wonderful, fluid moves in mostly good rock. A section in the middle was wet, but still climbable. The way to the book is a bit run out due to the fragile nature of the rock. There's a bolt above the little pillar to the right of the cave, so you can climb to the highest point. Great classic.

6+ Oben hui, unten pfui - with David X Sport 31m Good
Christoph Rauch
Did this right after failing on "Mayon", hoping that the holds would be better and dryer, which turned out to be true. The brittle start is indeed a bit "pfui", but the "hui" part in the headwall makes up for it. Unfortunately, there's another little "pfui" part with a bit of vegetation before the final "hui" part through the white exit dihedral.

Very nice crux moves on a thin finger crack. Unfortunately my shoulder hurt too much and then I even accidently pushed a quickdraw onto my foothold and I couldn't go on. So I had to sit in the rope.

6+ Neue Talseite - with Christoph Rauch Sport 18m, 5
Bovist
My belayer hauled me past the crux. Hard for the grade. The anchor is placed 1-2m below the chossy top.

6- Südwand - with Bovist Sport 12m, 3 Good
Christoph Rauch
Very easy to protect with nuts. The crack in the upper half is nice and quite technical. There's no anchor on top because of the bad rock quality on the last meter.

6+ Hau Ruck - with Ellen Sport 15m, 4 Good
Christoph Rauch
Another one with a burly start (first bolt can be clipped from a nice jam) and nice slab climbing on top. #lastrouteoftheday

6+ Neue Talseite - with Bovist Sport 18m, 5 Good
Christoph Rauch
There seem to be two finish variants now, one that stays in the crack line on the left up to a bolt where the choss begins, and one that drives out into the desparate-looking wall (probably the original?). I climbed the left variant because that holdless slab seemed too hard for the grade. It's best to then walk to the right on the ledge directly at the last bolt to the piton, then go up, but due to the snow, I had to go a bit further up into the choss before traversing to the right. Tried the right variant in top rope while lowering, succeeded but I suppose it's nowhere near 6+.

7- Talseite Direkteinstieg - with Bovist Sport 18m, 6 Good
Christoph Rauch
Nice line with a cool, slightly burly start and an elegant crack line with some nice jams on top. No separate anchor, it's best to have someone to second it and use the belay in the middle of the south face.

Started via "DFVKMM" because of general confusion about the lines. It also seems like there is an extension of "DFVKMM" which crosses over this route here and goes up the narrow pillar to the left of "DIMGH". Anyway, to the route: There's a nasty long fixed sling in one of the bolts, which is ugly, but more or less necessary because the runout might be grounder potential (it's relatively juggy there, but not too easy …). The holds are relatively sharp and most of them seem to point in the wrong direction. Quite burly, less elegant than its right neighbour.

7+ Dein ist mein ganzes Herz - with Alex Sport 25m Good
Christoph Rauch
Interesting route, relatively elegant opposed to its appearance. Small holds up to the big sidepull flake after the third bolt, then a small runout on deep jugs to the next one. The top section was wet but manageable due to big holds.

7 Gasp - with Alex Sport 12m Good

This one has grown a new bolt after the boulder start. The hardest part is still before the first bolt, the way to the (now) second bolt is relatively easy but not trivial. Powerful moves through the overhang on good holds from there.

Interesting dihedral section on smallish pockets to the third bolt. Hip mobility is advantageous.

6 Franz Krauss Gedenkweg - with Bovist Sport 20m, 6 Good
Christoph Rauch
Short vertical sections at the beginning and the end, easy choss from ledge to ledge in between. Has an alpine feel to it, like many routes in the far north of the Frankenjura. Nice layback section at the last bolt.

4 Guidoweg - with Christoph Rauch Sport 15m, 3 Good
Bovist
You should wear a helmet at the whole crag. The route is nice and easy. It's also easy to identify. Just follow the line on the slab with the least choss around.

6 Franz Krauss Gedenkweg - with Christoph Rauch Sport 20m, 6 Good
Bovist
The start is a bit tricky, but not very hard. The easy middle part is chossy with many fist-size loose rocks, so be careful. The last few meters to the top are fun layback moves. When pulling off the rope, you will be rained on by small rocks.

4 Talwand - with Christoph Rauch Mixed trad 25m, 3
Bovist
Finally! When I passed the point where Christoph Rauch bailed yesterday, I could fully understand why. The climbing could actually be nice without the thick moss and dirt over every hold and foothold.

4 Talwand - with Bovist Mixed trad 25m, 3
Christoph Rauch
I couldn't leave my gear behind, so I just had to return as soon as possible and finish what I started. The first part went much smoother today, since we had already removed some of the moss from important footholds and more importantly the thorns. Set up belay in the original position, then I relatively quickly went up to the place where I had bailed yesterday, but realised that I had to sit in the gear at the ring to dig out a few more footholds. Everything was still slimy and full of dirt, but in the end I found a relatively reliable foothold to gain the big flake. However, what looked like the edge of the summit from below turned into steep grass with some protruding icy rocks. But I found another solid placement for a nut which gave me the courage to finally heave myself up onto the summit. Not exactly the best conditions, but maybe warm, dry moss would have been even worse? First party on the summit since 2014! I should come back some time and clean the route some more since it's actually really worthwhile! #jahreserste2020

4 Talwand - with Bovist Mixed trad 25m, 3
Christoph Rauch
From the ground, it looked like the first ten meters would be the problematic part of this endeavour. Oh what wrong an assumption that should turn out to be. Despite it being chossy and dusty, it was easy and you can place a few solid pieces before reaching the bolt on the ledge. There, I already had to set up belay because the way up was blocked by thorns. Bovist brought up scissors and saw, so the journey could go on. Interesting passage up the diagonal ledge to the little rock chamber (original end of pitch 1). From there on, most of the holds were initially covered in (frozen) moss. Dug around a lot and finally found a good cam placement next to the slightly unreliable rock tunnel, so I pushed on and reached the slab beneath the final wall. Unfortunately, the slab, too, was covered in frozen moss, which broke away after standing on it for a few seconds. I quickly put a carabiner in the rusty ring at the end of the slab and backed it up with a small cam. By this time, I had slipped quite a few times already and I realized that I didn't have any more sensible gear on me for the last few meters of climbing. I tried a few times to get over the last steep bit, but had to retreat in the end; lowered off my cam and the rusty bolt.

Doesn't look super inviting, but super hard instead. Good combination! Turns out to be a massive test piece for your medial femoral compartment. In other words, you'll have to stretch the fuck out of your thighs. Hard to get out below the roof, but there's a great hand jam to lean out and look for holds; also looks like a good hold broke off, so now it's even harder for smaller people. Quite interesting indeed.

6+ Pfeilerweg - with monolith Sport 25m Good
Christoph Rauch
Great climbing, difficult around the bolts, but really spaced protection. I made the mistake of not taking long slings and clipped a bolt on the left (probably from the unknown new route). Turns out two draws were not enough, the rope drag was quite massive when I arrived at the plateau. Didn't want to bring up a second, so I just threw down the rope and deemed getting the draws back a problem of future me.

Continuing mixing the routes because of wet stone.

I think we used the first three bolts of Lea's Projekt and then traversed into the 4th bolt of this one. 4th and 5th quickdraw were extended and I was really happy about that, otherwise it would have been too scary for me, quite some distance. Basically dogged from quickdraw to quickdraw then

The last part is not steep anymore, but was quite wet, so it was a bit more tricky today, but manageable.

Didn't have too much rest before this attempt, but gave it a shot. The lower part with the super sharp pockets and crimps felt solid, but then I almost couldn't clip the long draw in the rooflet … eventually used Tobi's beta pinching the two good pockets to clip and immediately set off for the lunge. The last few meters were quite at my limit, but it worked out.
