Begehungen in VB Slab Area

We had a whale of a time! Seriously this wall is fabulous - go and get on it! We were following the Dun guidebook and got a bit lost... Had planned to do Mates, but I think it's carrots headed off up a black and quite wet streak coming down from the base of the crack? Either way, I got carried away following the carrots on Brewers Droop. No gear required - just plenty of bolt plates (11 if you want to use the two anchor carrots at the top too, although the navy rings a bit further back are fine too). Note that if you do use the rings further back from the cliff edge, the rap is almost exactly 30 meters (plus stretch) so be really careful you don't lower off the bottom.

Lovely end to the weekend. Whoever put those perfect pebbles into the otherwise blank section was a genius! Again, didn't end up placing any of my own gear and not that sad about it because the natural placements didn't look all that inspiring. Climbed above a pod of dolphins and topped out to cheers from the Fisho's Hut.

Stunning exposure. Beautiful slab with pebbles for footholds. Mega route. Again take lots of bolt plates

take 9 bolt plates for the carrots. One cruxy move in the middle of the route. Saw a pod of dolphins heading south.

Good climb. I preclipped the first bolt to avoid a factor 2 fall from the start moves. It would be run out between bolts around the middle of the climb but a good cam placement is available other than that it’s not run out; you just have to look carefully for the carrots as some are not obvious.

Bit of a psyche out that a pebble sticking out of a conglomerate is a "hold", but that was also kinda cool

If you get a little excited over exposure then you will be foaming at the mouth on this one. The most ridiculous position: waves crashing below you, wind, lots of air and multiple whales breaching about 50m away over your shoulder.

Top roped but the climbing was fun. I was more impressed with then position and wandered around a bit over interesting looking features. Just made the abseil on a 60m rope - possibly only due to rope stretch so be careful as this may also depend on how you build your anchor.

Amazing exposed slab climbing. Appropriately climbed with several whales cruising past below me. Also a great photo op from above fisho's hut to get the huge scale of the wall.
