Ascents as sport by Alexei Drummond having Distinct route

Onsight! Bit tentative before finding the jugs to clip the first bolt. Then a crux move right from the mono. After that it felt very smooth up to the bolts Very happy with that!

Happy with this effort at the end of a cruisy day. Rad climb, but a bit of polish at the start almost makes it the crux

Had to fight for this. Clipped the first 5 bolts of the line (The last bolt was just over the lip). Then I sighted a tick and an anchor a bit further right. The climbing is an easy slab from there, but then I realised I had probably trended right to the next anchor along (X factor?), as there was another anchor to my left at the top. I clipped both anchors before calling take just to be sure. So this is either an onsight of Shotgun Therapy or potentially an FA of the link-up route Shotgun Factor (presumably the next anchor along is for X Factor?).

Really nice route. Apparently my choice of finish after the last bolt was a body-width left of the sanctioned route because I took a left hand hold in my right hand My theory is that the true line is always whatever the visitor says, not the local. Since the visitor is the one looking at the route with fresh unbiased eyes!

Onsight! Such a nice arete climb. I had climbed Richard already and they get pretty close together at the top so not sure about claiming the onsight but it was definitely #1stGo

I had heard this involved a throw to a jug, but no throw occurred. Instead I found a heel hook and was able to stretch up with right hand to what I assume was the jug in question on the arete. It is all over very quickly.

Shares the anchor with Appendix, which I did more than year ago, so I might have been over the very last bit before but the route is already over.

Wow! Why does nobody climb this? It was very dirty. Quite a good route and a stern test through the top two bolts. Aptly named and I got this one by the skin of my right toe. Great way to finish the day!

Fun short route with the crux pulling through the rooflet. Sort of a flash as Alex put the gear on coming down from the route next door. But I hadn't seen any moves or anybody climb it previously.

Nice varied climbing. Generously bolted at the bottom.

Bolting between 2nd and anchor a bit spaced. Hit the left arete just below anchor bolt.

Chossy at the start then a fingery crux I was very happy to get through.

Only flashed this because Alex had good beta. Easy at bottom, makes the grade at the top.

Nice route. the runout between bolts 4 and 7 is pretty sketchy despite easy terrain. Clipping the 7th is okay from the ledge, but if you are short you need to commit to a very serious move a long way above the previous bolt without a clean fall. There are two cruxes: one between 2nd and 3rd and one between 7th and 8th.

Nice climbing but the line seems a bit contrived.

The line is to the right of the bolts and then straight over the last bolt to top out for the anchor. A little soft for the grade. But quite a nice climb.

Happy with this flash. Moving right at the second clip was the crux for me.

Gets thin before the rooflet and then traverse right is a bit tricky. Nice.

I made this a bit harder and more shouldery around the third bolt than necessary. Alex climbed it much better.

A couple of steep moves through the bulge, but all the holds are jugs.

Nice little route. Quite off-balance in a couple of places, cool movement.

Flashed first half, onsighted second half Had to try hard from 4th to 7th bolt. No chalk and small holds. Pretty happy with that.

Fifth attempt and second redpoint. Repeated it for a nicer video. Still a lot of mucking around, but it felt better! I love this route even more now after the repeat!

Red point to lower chains to clean off gear after Alex took a bad fall.

Easy #2ndgo once I knew where to go for the slopey top-out.

“Onsight”. Full redpoint of whole route on first attempt #1stGo but I had been on the first few bolts previously on the 17 that shares the start.

Still had to try really hard to send it second go. I definitely didn't have the best beta, but this seemed hard for the grade compared to other routes at the crag. #2ndGo

Clean on the second attempt of the day. Nice to repeat this climb, especially as a warm up.

Red point! Still pretty untidy around the second clipping stance trying to find the right positions of balance. But got the crux sequence above the second bolt pretty well dialled and it was a clean climb so very happy with that.

Red point! Clean send on my second attempt of the day. Had the beta down and didn’t worry too much about which intermediates to use. I just went from clipping stance to clipping stance with whatever was good enough to move through on. Very happy with that!

Redpoint. By far the longest time I have taken on a 21 in at least a year. Oh well. At least Alex sent Black Widow so I don't have to return to the Beer Garden for a while

Red point! Fifth attempt overall and second attempt of the day. Climbed this smoothly all the way through. Executed crux sequence again, even better. Slightly nervous at the top but I have the stemming moves really dialled in. A bit of wind and cloudy, so the friction was really good. Love this climb as it has a bit of everything in it.

Easy red point on third go. Quite a nice climb once it has been cleaned.

Redpoint. Felt great on the second go. Had heaps left at the top too. Very nice climb! #2ndGo
