Ascents by David Gibbs having Distinct route

I made this far harder by not doing the easy reach to a good hold at bolt 3 -- actually felt like 5.8 slab. Proper beta makes it better.

I wonder if the slab below the first bolt would be worth cleaning, to extend the climb downwards to the trail.

Book says 5.7, but I think it is 5.5. Always hands, or feet, or both -- compared to the 5.7s to the left.

Easy, but fun.

Felt hard & insecure for a 12.

Steep climbing on big holds.

Surprisingly good, and surpisingly steep at 5.5.

Teaching a friend to lead, so warmed up on it.

Short, with high first bolt. Easy going to bolt, crux after clip, then fine to anchors.

It was wet, making all the friction moves a lot more committing feeling -- not the easy 5.5 warm-up I was expecting. If dry, I think it would be a lovely easy sport climb.

Casual, casual, casual, casual, OMG the bulge...where's the jug to make this 5.5... there isn't one... ok, pull the move, finish.

Felt like a bunch of 5.3, then one 5.7 move. I guess that averages out to 5.5, right? And the one move is well protected by a (high-clipped) bolt.

Easiest 5.8 I have ever climbed. So easy I suggested it as first-ever lead climb to a friend who was along for the day and had never lead climbed before.

It's slab, but not friction slab -- more like less-than-vertical face climbing.

A fun little lead with a couple balancy bits, and some trust-your-feet slab work on easy angled climbing.

Some nice friction work near the bottom.

Having bolted it, figured I should lead it.

The usual, bringing someone up so they can leave.

Some work with an off-width type feel to it going through the cleavage, but otherwise easy pleasant climbing.

Looked like a nicer face from the first climb... lowered rightwards, then climbed it. Some quite good climbing.

Climbed it with my pack on, as our way out from this local bit of cliff.
