A meeting almost forgotten means I couldn't go to Weir today, but the reward was an afternoon here with Bart, and getting the FFA on this.

About 5.6, won't be the best route, but should be adequate.

Good, easy route. Crux is about 5.5-5.6 but the rest of the route is no more than 5.4. Not worth the scramble to get to the base but worth the extra effort if you are planning on climbing the other routes in this area.

Very fun easy route! Great work! Using a few extendable draws helped with the rope drag as it trends sideways. Fun ledgy moves with a great view. Accessible one we get up to the ledge.

We used a 70m rope to make the following possible- We scrambled up to the ledge and belayed while anchored off the tree at the base. After the second climber cleaned the route, they were lowered off past the belay ledge to the ground. The belayer then used the climber as a counterweight to lower off the ledge rather than scrambling off the ledge.

Fun route. Just fun. We belayed to the upper ledge to launch off on the climb. I would be mindful that until you are roped up, you are fairly high up and should be mindful of tripping etc. Worth climbing for fun.

Will probably end up being 5.4-5.5, but hopefully with good position.

The dihedral has some fun climbing, but would be better when cleaned. Should go on lead, too, if some of the placement possibilities are cleaned.

When you see this dihedral from one of the other routes it looks like it could be quite technical. But, when you get on it, it's much easier than it looked. Nice finger pockets in the corner in the top half, and some great feet on the left face: the bottom is easy, and it gets harder as you go. Crux at the top. For extra credit, exit right 1m below the top of the dihedral, and up the relatively featureless right arete, climbing up to a large tree at the top.

It was an adventure.

Some of it was wet -- dunno if overnight rain, or still seeping from the winter melt. And, it felt like winter may have washed some more dirt and grit onto the climb, too. Gear was... interesting... but usually there when you wanted it. (Except, maybe, the crux.)

It didn't feel like 5.6 on lead... but I climbed it again on TR and... ok... stiff 5.6.

After Su followed, she was cold... so she brought me up from the top to finish the day.

Seconded this and learned some interesting placements. The route was wet at the time which made it a bit more challenging.

Only the last bit is worth it.

Now that I've climbed it in dry conditions, 5.6 feels far more reasonable as a grade.

I think the crux is closer to 5.7/5.8. My second struggled through the crux too. Gear is OK, but thin in areas (decent gear below and above the crux but not through the crux). I ran out (5-10m) some sections of the climb. Got pumped through the crux because I didn't want to commit. Ended up have to take and rest after the crux.

Took a fall -- mostly because my rope needed to be flicked over something in the middle of the crux.

Great climb, second pitch felt pretty easy, or it was the pressure from it starting to rain while climbing it.

P1 is excellent -- well worth doing as a single-pitch sport climb. P2. Isn't bad, and makes for a fine 2-pitch climb, but P1 is the money pitch.

So much fun! There was a bit of water running down one section but it wasn't too bad.

Seconded the first pitch on a caterpillar setup, super fun to learn. Loved the fun parts to a crux right before the belay.

On pitch two lead up the sport bolts except for instead of going to the last one, went left for the last two bolts on the prow. Didn’t have long draws on them but would have been better to have one especially on the “second last one” done that way to reduce rope drag. Didn’t want to do the long runout to a ledge then last to the slab, the second crux of the actual route.

Went to the bolted anchor that is shared at the end.

Was the first ever time I lead part of a multi pitch and it was amazing. Learned about guide mode and blazing up a second different ways on the ledge. Will always be a good Halloween memory!
