Begehungen in Main Cliff

Great climb, second pitch felt pretty easy, or it was the pressure from it starting to rain while climbing it.

So much fun! There was a bit of water running down one section but it wasn't too bad.

Really enjoyed the upper bit.

Fun route.

Might bring a wire brush next time to clean a few things but this was really fun.

Very cool route. I wished I had a few more bigger cams, but I made due with what I had.

Thanks for allowing me to have the lead insight on this. First climb in the area, loved the long adventure sport over the most beautiful view. Well bolted, cleaned, nice route, and so much great experience. Highest climb I’ve done in a pitch ever. Great memories.

Left variant

Got lost on the route and used one of the bolt from Ninnyhammer right variant before finding my way back onto the route

Onsight of the variant. Repeat of Ninnyhammer up to the variant.

Very good warm up. This route is also the easiest way out. Good to know for the future.

Lead with backpack. Excellent route to exit/top out. Extended the belay from the anchor to the ledge with my cordelette for a great belay.

It was an adventure.

Some of it was wet -- dunno if overnight rain, or still seeping from the winter melt. And, it felt like winter may have washed some more dirt and grit onto the climb, too. Gear was... interesting... but usually there when you wanted it. (Except, maybe, the crux.)

It didn't feel like 5.6 on lead... but I climbed it again on TR and... ok... stiff 5.6.

Only the last bit is worth it.

With backpack

Climbed above the anchor and belayed my second from there rather than trying to lower back down to the anchor given the significant lateral distance between the mid-cliff anchor and the anchor.

Wasn't sure how to start it, used the staircase-like blocks just right of A Story for Jan which has some good gear. Instead of using the large oak tree for the first pitch belay, I opted for a trad anchor in the crack system just left of the three for a high masterpoint and a comfortable belay stance. Climbed to the top, and belayed off a tree about 5m above the anchor for Rhovanion. Gear in the second pitch is sometime thin to inexistent. Some cracks could be cleaned with a nut tool to allow some small (x4 0.1/0.2) placements. I had left mine with my follower so I ran it out.

Very fun easy route! Great work! Using a few extendable draws helped with the rope drag as it trends sideways. Fun ledgy moves with a great view. Accessible one we get up to the ledge.

We used a 70m rope to make the following possible- We scrambled up to the ledge and belayed while anchored off the tree at the base. After the second climber cleaned the route, they were lowered off past the belay ledge to the ground. The belayer then used the climber as a counterweight to lower off the ledge rather than scrambling off the ledge.

Good at its grade.

Good, easy route. Crux is about 5.5-5.6 but the rest of the route is no more than 5.4. Not worth the scramble to get to the base but worth the extra effort if you are planning on climbing the other routes in this area.

With draws pre-hung by David Vézina. Found the crux slightly harder than 5.10a (at least compared to other 5.10 at Lac Sam)

A meeting almost forgotten means I couldn't go to Weir today, but the reward was an afternoon here with Bart, and getting the FFA on this.
