15 Wild is the Wind - with Caitlyn, Jack Ferguson, Tinam Trad 80m Very Good
With Caitlyn, Jack and Tinam with a brief feature from Robin and Kristie.

Pleasant climb, cool position and comfy belays! Led all the pitches as it was just the most straight forward way with our party.

P1: Easy traverse, cams in breaks. P2: Quite the awkward move into the corner, rest is straight forward. Some gear down low and up high. P3: Cool exposed start, jug haul. Put in two pieces, just because I could!

Repeat with Robin and Caitlyn but a total Alzheimers onsight, including going the wrong way on P1; future reference, just stay on the right side.

P2 was easier than I remembered with no off-widthing required.

P3 start was still hard as shit and I didn’t remember the chimney being that tight but I still had an absolute blast of a time. So good!!

Definitely sections of “do not fall” on P1 and P3.

Actually really good! I did some mild gardening at the bottom though.

Probably a good beginner trad lead, no jamming required, nice comfortable stances and decent gear. Oh, and not sandbagged.

I dedicate my send to Robin, who brought his double rack down!!

Well this was so much more awesome and fun than I expected. The fear to fun ratio was heavily leaning towards fun!

P1 average, think of it as an access pitch. Will try the Cynics United start next time, just wanted the full Ewbank experience today.

P2, a sketchy start, that flake moves a LOT. Just don’t fall. Can be creative with gear afterwards, but yes a bit of a run out. (yellow totem, 0.75 BD and a 1 BD) Super awesome stemming above your belayer!!

P3, harder move to start but better protection than P2. Nothing too bad, then a pleasant cruise afterwards.

P4, what an awesome feature/ramp to finish!!

A very awesome day and first full trad multi for Jack! (Not counting the 2 pitches of Spartan)

C2C about 3.5 hours. Mega Classic rating doesn’t include P1. Took a lot of gear, standard BD/WC double rack but also additional full rack of totems and Z4s; so had a lot of triples!

Still calling this an onsight despite down climbing the start and using Jacks shoulder as an intermediate before getting back on the tree.

A total sandbag at 15; but I feel like I knew that anyway??? Maybe the tree stump used to be bigger. After eventually getting through the nails start, the rest was good fun. The actual mantle was fine, although it was the other way around for Jack?

Forgot to bring bolt plates down so I used one bolt plate and the rest were just wires!

Taking Tinam on his first multi, with caitlyn!

Lead all pitches, probably placed the most trad I’ve ever placed on this; was actively looking for placements. Middle 17 finish.

2 idiots abseiled the entire wall with their 100m+ static, dislodging a heap of rock onto a party doing Saccharine nightmare and some onto my party on p2 of sweet dreams. They didn’t even climb the route, they fixed the rope and walked out and pulled it up later? No climbing gear, no helmet, no brains.

Alzheimers onsight! 10+ years later. Felt much harder than Little Red Riding Hood. No necessarily hard moves but the pump steadily builds!

Placed 26 pieces of gear adding to the pump and making Jacks top out harder, doubles .5 to 2. A single 0.4 & 4, set of BD wires (10), two chickenhead slings and small totems (4).

Carried 2 3s to the top but didn’t use them. Left them at the crux for Jack!

Bit scared at the start on the small gear but settled after a 1/3rd or so.

First pitch really wasn’t that bad to be honest?

But yes, the money is the second pitch and that was WILD! Moments of crazy laughing and smiling, but also moments of terror!

A 5 and 6 made me feel much better, I somehow managed to unclip the rope from the QuickDraw while I was thrutching up. Luckily was not that important of a piece!

The space walk was fantastic; loved it, not in a hurry to hop back on, but happy to know what gear I need in the future!

Rapped off after pitch 2.

Abseiled down Eternity after doing Carthagian and with the sun and wind; was actually dry!!

One clean top rope lap which felt quite nice and quite quick!

Decided to hop on and lead it afterwards; Adam had placed 10 pieces to practice on TR.

Total of 18 pieces after my lead and moving most of Adam’s pieces 😂 could almost take the red point ?

Approx 30 minutes on the wall so improved upon my last effort of 1 hour / 20 pieces!!

Still a favourite, however today was pushing it.

Started sprinkling down low and proper pouring by the twin cracks. Decided to chimney the boulder on top instead of the usual face as that was a waterfall.

Thoroughly stitched up the top because EVERYTHING was wet.

Following Jack end of day; the start was nails for 17 !! (in the dark with a head torch)

There’s a nut stuck in one of the cracks, spent some time trying to get it out but that ain’t going anywhere. (How did you even get that in there mate?)

Jack had a monstrous run out from that nut (just after the second last bolt) to the last bolt where he decided not to place any of his double rack of cams. Dumbass. 😂

The arete at the top was bloody marvellous, didn’t expect to be pulling those kind of moves on a 17, so damn awesome.

Very keen to try the original during the day and compare.

A fine morning out!! In saying that, it took me 1:35 to onsight this thing. After Will topped out, the total time was slower than The Nose speed record.

Super happy with myself to get this done though, had a super sketchy moment right at the start with a horribly placed 0.5... (There was a good piece below it at least)

Took some commitment to start the finger crack section, but went through it relatively smoothly once I did! Took a while to figure out the upper crux but ended up lay-backing to get it done (and I hate lay-backing)!

Super stoked! 17 pieces of gear. (Most were in the top third when I realised my gear management wasn't too bad!!)

Will linked P1 & 2 together; also definitely the only way to do it. Hard-ish start and didn't seem very easy overall (for the grade), but still enjoyable!

P3 was the money and was just super pleasant the whole way. Do plug a #4 early if you have one, I was holding onto mine hoping to plug it at the top but there aren't any placements for it up high!

P1 and P2 definitely needs to be linked together; there's no other way to do it!

I really am not a huge fan of laybacks, I just suck at them... But I managed to pull through with extremely odd lay-backing technique, which involved dangling my right leg and just hopping my left foot (which was smearing) up the wall...

Bolts should be chopped. Even I didn't clip them!

Didn't do the top pitch.

Compulsory jamming to pull some of the moves; and was super stoked to have pulled it off. Harder than Eternity.

Ran out the entirety of the off-width / chimney section after not being able to find a placement. (It was there and obvious apparently).

Repeat. Second. Awesome exposure, like last time! Couldn't find those 'underclings and sidepulls' the first time I did it. I swear jugs magically appeared since I last did it. (Definitely a good gauge on my improvement!)

Repeat of pitches 3-5. Free solo'd pitch one, lead pitch 2 and 4. Did with 3 people. All in approach shoes (except the variant finish). Dropped my Camelbak bottle at the top of Pitch 4, if someone finds it... haha, let me know

EOD climb. Easy traverse start, fun pocket section, cool little cave and jam/crimps to top out! Almost always a great foothold somewhere.

Awesome route following the crack, I removed 16 pieces of gear from this climb. My own leader's gear and previously placed gear. It happened to make topping out really difficult!

Flash, first day at the point, and it was amazing! Awesome climb, stemmed the crap out of it, thank you flexibility.

Two small-medium friends for the last bit, otherwise nice underclings and sidepulls just where you need them! Great finish to my first multipitch!
